Centricity Universal Viewer (UV) is a web-enabled product that users can access from various locations including their home. When an update is introduced, the new version is automatically loaded when the user logs in (Administrative rights are required).

Login Differences There are a few differences pertaining to logging into the application. Users and passwords are still maintained/defined via the Centricity Administration Tool (CAT) to include password format and expiration period.

Password Expiration

When your password expires:

CPACS UV

You are automatically taken to the update password window.

When logging into an integrated RIS/CPACS workstation, RIS password change will automatically update CPACS Password.

Password has expired displays above the login window and you must re-enter your login information and click Change

Password. When logging into an integrated RIS/UV workstation, RIS password change will not update UV Password.

Presentation States

CPACS UV

When saving an exam, a RPPS (requested procedure presentation state) is created. Only one RPPS per exam (can/will be overwritten if exam is saved again).

Name of applied PS is displayed in the monitor title bar.

Image numbers are not part of PS. When saving a PS the displayed image number is ignored. When applying a PS the image number is not changed.

GSPS is the only presentation state created. QCPS (quality control PS) is a priority GSPS and is

applied automatically regardless of Load

presentation state Done option setting. Indicator in front of the name of the applied PS is

highlighted in the Saved Presentation State menu.

Image numbers are part of PS. The image number displayed when you save the PS is the image number displayed when you apply the PS (regardless of whether changes were made to that image).

User preference to save RPPS when closing the study. RPPS is saved only if changes were made to the study.

User preference to save PS when marked as Dictated. GSPS is saved any time the study is marked as Dictated. PS name is D followed by date/time created.

Done option to save PS when marking as Done.

For one-click save PS, Quick Save GSPS button can be added to monitor region title bar.

QCPS is a one-click save. As noted above, the QCPS has priority over GSPS in UV.

DDPs/Hanging Protocols

Both CPACS and UV have “traditional” protocols. UV also has smart reading protocols (SRPs), which is a system that learns from the user’s hanging preferences by considering over 50 parameters from the study and scenario, and offers the best matching SRP based on the user’s reading preferences. This allows multiple options for each exam based on a variety of scanning parameters used to acquire the image set.

Below are the differences for “traditional” protocols in CPACS and UV.

CPACS UV

DDPs can be created by arranging the study/studies and clicking Save DDP in the DDP drop-down.

DDPs can also be created via Utilities, DDP Setup. DDPs are procedure-specific (user selects

procedures to link to DDP-procedure list driven by selected body parts).

Comparisons are considered for same modality studies only.

Favorite DDP list is configured in Utilities Palette, DDP Favorites. Favorite DDP list is not modality- specific – all selected display regardless of the modality of the opened study.

HPs can be created by arranging the study/studies and clicking Save in the HP drop- down list.

HPs can also be created via the HP Tool/Editor. HPs created via the HP Editor must be linked to the desired layout.

HPs are layout-specific – they must be attached to the layout. Matching strings can be used to link the layout to certain procedures.

Comparisons are first considered for same modality and then revert to other modalities as defined in the HP.

HPs linked to layout – all HPs applicable for the displayed study and scenario display for selection in the HP drop-down menu (modality- specific).
