figure 3 - Mounting of the OCI module
1.2 Operating principleThis kit allows you to connect several heat pumps in cascade to provide heat adapted to high demand Depending on requirements, the Cascade Kit allows the progressive trigger different heat pump installation for maximum comfort combined with optimized energy consumption The system balance operating time of each HP of the installation, the first HP to get under way is not always the one that is defined as the master system.Depending on the configuration, the Cascade Kit can also manage the production of domestic hot water (DHW), a boiler connection, a second or third heating circuit and heating a swimming pool
" Refer to the installation instructions of heat pumps for a more detailed description of the operating principle of a heat pump. " 2 or 3 heat pump of the installation must be strictly identical in range and power. " The flow temperature can not exceed the outlet temperature of one HP except boiler connection. Refer to the instructions of the HP. " The cascade connection is not compatible with cooling mode. " The cascade connection is not compatible with the wire-pilot function. " The cascade connection is not compatible with heating electrical back-up. Do not connect the heating electrical back-up, risk of malfunction. " Guarantee limits : Refer to general terms of sale given in the catalog, a preliminary research design is essential.

2.2 DHW tank after bottle of hydraulic separationIn this case, the DHW tank is managed as a heating circuit (figure 5) - Plus : The boiler can produce DHW - inconvenience : The installation can not provide heating and producing DHW simultaneously The extra DHW is provided by the boiler
2.1 DHW tank mounted on a HP or without DHW tankIn this case, the DHW tank is connected directly to a slave HP (figure 4) - Plus : The installation can provide heating and producing DHW simultaneously - inconvenience : The DHW can not be produced by the boiler, electrical back up is required to complete the DHW load (not recommended with subscription EJP)

3 Installation configuration
The regulation of the installation is done according to the master/slave principle (1 master and 1 or 2 slaves) The system enforces the master temperature control depending on the flow sensor cascade. Depending on requirements, it is possible to select 1 master and one slave, or 1 master and 2 slaves
" 2 or 3 heat pump of the installation must be strictly identical in range and power.
• Example of association and maximum power available
M1 M2 M3 Heat output 7°C/35°C (kW)

3.1 Installation configurationThe Cascade Kit allows you to install your heat pump in three different configurations, the main differences are the position of the DHW tank and its mode of regulation:• Configuration A : Without DHW tank or DHW tank
before bottle of hydraulic separation, controlled by directional valve
• Configuration B : DHW after bottle of hydraulic separation with direct heating circuit (not compatible with heating floor).
• Configuration C : DHW after bottle of hydraulic separation with mixing heating circuit, heating floor supports
3.2 Regulation systemDepending on your type of installation, you must act on various parameters specific to a cascade installation. For other parameters, refer to the installation instructions of your HP
3.2.1 Heat Pump Master/Slave(s)Your installation includes 2 or 3 heat pumps, split between 1 master and 1 or 2 slaves The master will: - regulate the flow temperature according to the requirements of the different heating circuits (direct circuit, mixed, ECS and pool circuit) - control the boiler* - control pool*
DHW* and a heating circuit with mixing valve* are controlled by a slave HP * If option installed
3.2.2 DHW pump/valveDepending on the configuration, the regulation of DHW is done in two different ways (parameter 5731) : - by a directional valve - by a pump
3.3 Options " The setting of the installed options is only available on the HP on which they are connected.
• DHW kitDHW tank control (with electrical back-up) requires the use of the DHW kit (073991)
" In configuration A, we need the electrical back-up in the DHW tank. " In configuration B, the complement of load is produced by the boiler. Choose the pump according to the pressure losses of the system and the directional valve
• Additional Circuit KitThe management of an additional heating circuit mixing valve requires the installation of a Regulation Extension Kit (075311)
" The maximum heating circuits is equal to the number of heat pumps. " In configuration B, if your second circuit is heating floor type, installing a mixing valve is imperative. " If the installation includes 2 or more mixed circuits, provide a sensor QAD 36 (ref. 198746) per additional mixed circuit.
• Swimming pool kitPlease refer to the instructions for the Extension regulation kit (075311)

3.4 Bottle of hydraulic separation
3.4.1 GeneralThe role of the bottle of hydraulic separation is to remove any interference between the primary pumps and secondary networks pumps To be effective, the bottle must have a sufficient diameter to lower the circulation velocity less than 0 1 m/s The collectors must be dimensioning for a circulation velocity of less than 1 m/s

3.4.2 DimensioningThe choice of the bottle is a function of the maximum heat output to be dissipated in the installation The quantity of installed HP and their power used to define the diameter and height of the bottle and from the bottle diameter, the diameter D of the hydraulic connections This diameter will guide you in choosing the dimensions of hydraulic circuit and other components : pumps, valves, … this according to the rules of art Specially careful to the non-return valves to be sized to pass the maximum flow.

3.4.3 Implementation of the bottle of hydraulic separationIt is necessary to displace the primary and secondary nozzles height as shown in the figure below. The top part ensures degassing of the hydraulic circuit It must be provided a manual and automatic drainer The bottom part ensures Sludge decanting and must be equipped with an evacuation in 50/60
3.5 Connecting the heating circuit hydraulicallyThe connection must comply with good trade practice according to local building regulations Tightening torque : 15 to 35 Nm The appliance must be connected to the installation with union connectors and shut-off valves to facilitate its removal Reminder : Seal everything when fitting in accordance with prevailing trade practice for plumbing work : - Use suitable seals (fibre seals, o-rings). - Use Teflon tape or hemp. - Use sealing paste (synthetic depending on the case)

3.9 Electrical connections Ensure that the general electrical power supply has been cut off before starting any repair work The electrical installation must be conducted in accordance with the prevailing regulations The electrical connections must only be made when all the other fi tting operations have been completed (fi xing, assembly, etc )
Each HP of the installation must have its own circuit breaker (see the HP installation instructions) All connections EX1, EX2 and EX3 and sensors are connected to each HP if they are used In the case of a heating fl oor, insert the heating fl oor thermal safety device between the HP connector and the heating fl oor circulation pump.
" The outdoor sensor must be ABSOLUTELY connected in X84 on M1.
3.9.1 HP interconnectionThe installation HP are interconnected by a communication cable 2x0 5 mm² mini (not supplied) The latter is connected to each controller via the OCI The OCI is connected with the batt to the regulator to X70
3.9.2 Flow sensor cascadeFlow sensor cascade (SDC) is connected to the connector X84 (terminals ) of M1 module
3.9.3 Boiler connection (option)Connect the boiler pump to L and N terminals of the M1 module Connect the boiler thermostat contact X14 of M1 module using the supplied connector
