B.Eng (Metallurgical Engineering) Honours Completed: 2010Western Australian School of MinesCurtin University, Australia

Summary of Experience I recently completed my Master’s Degree in Applied Science (Materials Engineering) at the University of British Columbia. My research thesis explored the recovery of copper and nickel from medium temperature sulphide pressure leach residues of the CESL Cu and Vale Ni leach processes.

Prior to commencing my studies at UBC I was employed for 2.5 years as a Process Engineer at Ausenco in Perth, Western Australia. During my time at Ausenco I spent six months seconded to a greenfields Iron Ore Operation in Sierra Leone to assist in the commissioning and production ramp-up of the process plant. At Ausenco, I was also a member of the process design team for a detailed design project for a large-scale copper concentrator currently ramping-up in Kazakhstan. My experience also includes contributions to several feasibility studies for iron ore, copper and gold processing plants.

Completing my Master’s Degree was beneficial to my knowledge, research and independent learning skills. In the next stage of my career I wish to expand and develop my skills and experience with a range of operational, technical and engineering roles in the Canadian and global mining industry.

Work Experience September 2013 – October 2015 M.A.Sc Student/Graduate Research Assistant at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, CanadaCompleted my Master’s of Applied Science degree (M.A.Sc) in Materials Engineering. Fulfilment of the degree involved coursework and a research thesis. Focus areas included pressure leaching, reaction modelling and copper, nickel and iron hydrometallurgy.

February 2011 – May 2013Graduate/Process Engineer at Ausenco, Perth, AustraliaPerformed a variety of roles on several projects as required. These roles involved developing piping and instrumentation diagrams, control philosophy and other design documentation for the Bozshakol Copper Sulphide Project Detailed Design Project. Further experience in developing mass balances, design criteria and process flowsheets for study level designs for mineral processing plants. Studies I have been involved in include the Tonkolili Stage 1b Hematite project and the Kalia Oxide Engineering Cost Study. Left role to pursue further studies and international opportunities in Canada.

November 2011 - April 2012 Process Engineer seconded to Ausenco Marampa Iron Ore Project Operational Readiness Program for London Mining, Marampa, Sierra Leone Roles included delivery of a metallurgical accounting system, plant operator training and supervision, project start-up, commissioning and process support. Worked as part of a team of expatriate operations and maintenance personnel at the Marampa Iron Ore Project in Sierra Leone during the project commissioning and ramp-up stage of the operation. Roster was 7 weeks on/3 weeks off FIFO West Africa.

December 2007 – December 2010Practical plant operating experience at various Australian Mineral Processing Plant operations during my undergraduate studies.

AngloGold Ashanti, Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, WA, AustraliaVacation student in processing department assisting with processing plant and laboratory operations. I conducted cyclone surveys, carbon counts, screen panel replacements, gold pours and assisted with metallurgical accounting duties. Worked on an 8/6 FIFO basis from Perth.

Goldfields, Agnew Gold Mine, WA, AustraliaVacation student in processing department responsible for operating the CIL tanks and mills as a process technician. Duties included checking pulp densities, conducting gold-in-circuit surveys, testing cyanide concentrations, preparing samples and charging ball mills. Worked on an 8/6 FIFO basis from Perth.

BHP Billiton, Olympic Dam Corporation, SA, AustraliaVacation student in technical processing department. Conducted aCorrosion study of the Uranium Solvent Extraction plant. Worked on a residential basis on-site for 3 months.
