Prayer is intercession. It’s II Corinthians 10: 4–5— For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down
of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedi-
ence of Christ. In our prayers for others, we can see results of God’s power. He takes our prayers and uses them as weapons against Satan and the demonic forces which try
to ensnare us and others. We have a mighty God who can set the captives free, bring deliverance and healing to us and those who are in our lives. We must intercede for them. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. He searches our hearts and knows what is in His mind for our lives. He knows our lacking strength, weakness of character, our frailty, feebleness of health or soul to bear trials and troubles, but, He inspires us to come aside and pray, because He is ALL powerful. He does above and beyond all that we could ever ask or think.

Have you heard the latest news? New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary recently approved the launch of the Caskey Center for Church Excellence to provide free theological education for Louisiana pastors and staff of bi-vocational and smaller mem-bership churches. With an initial gift of $1.5 million, an anonymous donor has provided the funding for 100 students to receive full scholarships of up to $6000 per year. Recipients of the scholarships can use the funds in the certificate, associate, undergraduate, or master’s degree studies at NOBTS, and the program applies to any of the seminary’s delivery systems including the main campus, Louisiana extension centers (Think Monroe Extension!), workshops, conference-based courses or online programs. The NOBTS press release notes that “the Caskey Center will focus on sharpening student skills in biblical exposition and personal evangelism. An evangelism practicum will be included each semester a student is in the program. Students entering the program during the first year will receive a Logos Bible Software package (Silver) and Logos software training to help promote faithful biblical exposition.” What an opportunity for many of our pastors and staff to begin or further their theological education! This is the chance for some of our pastors to finally finish up a course of study began long ago and left uncompleted. As Dr. Chuck Kelly says, “This is a real game-changer!” I hope many of you will take advantage of this incredible oppor-tunity and that as a result we will see a renewed strengthen-ing of our churches and a significant advance of the Kingdom of God in our area of northeast Louisiana and ultimately to the uttermost parts of the world.
