From the Principal REMINDER Tomorrow is a student free day. Please make sure you have made suitable arrangements for your child’s supervision tomorrow. The buses will not be operating due to this. NEW EQUIPMENT It has taken three years of fundraising to accumulate the $30,000 needed to purchase the new play equipment. The success of this year’s Ducklotto raised the last $10,000 and meant we were able to order the equipment straight away. The installation began today which is very exciting! COMMUNITY SERVICE

Earlier this week we had 12 year 9 students

and 2 staff members from The Knox School

attend as part of their leadership

development program to complete some

community service. They were very busy over

the couple of days relocating library books,

covering new books and making a video

ready for our 40th birthday. It was a pleasure

having them in the school and to see them so

willing to help others.

Quote of the week:

BIRTHDAYS AT BASS VALLEY : Students who are celebrating their

birthdays this week are:

TJ O’Connor & Leo Von Unger

We hope you all have a wonderful birthday.

GRANTVILLE COMMUNITY BENDIGO BANK The Christmas giving tree is set up at the Grantville Bendigo Bank branch. Donations of toys and gifts for children and families are now being accepted. All gifts go to local families in need. CANTEEN ROSTER TERM 4 5th December—Chris Wallace & Kayte Stringer 12th December— Amber Rees & Jan Bardwell No canteen in last week of term 4.

CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE Parents & Friends are collecting food to donate to the Corinella Food Pantry for families in need this Christmas. Things that they are requesting are: long life milk, pasta,

sanitary items, tin fruits, meal kits, Christmas treats, cupboard

items etc. If you can donate, please give all items to the office before 12th December. SECOND HAND UNIFORM We are looking for second hand uniform donations as our stocks are running low. If any parents have clean, logoed uniform they don’t need and that they would like to donate to the school, please drop it off at the office. We will then hold a second hand uniform stall on Transition Day, 10th December.

HEAD LICE We held our whole school head lice check today and have sent home your child’s outcome and, if needed, required treatment. We understand that the issue of head lice and keeping it under control is a tough one but we really do appreciate families persistence and vigilance in helping us keeping them out of our school. Thank you. Treating head lice

Concentrate on the head - there is no evidence that you need to clean the house or classroom.

No treatment kills all of the eggs so treatment must involve two applications seven days apart.

If you are using lotions, apply the product to dry hair.

There is no need to treat the whole family, unless they also have head lice.

Only the pillowcase requires specific laundering; either wash it in hot water (at least 60 degrees centigrade) or dry it using a

clothes dryer on the hot or warm setting.

There is no product available that prevents head lice. Using the conditioner and comb method once a week will help you detect

any head lice early and minimise the problem. Tying back long hair can help prevent the spread of head lice. Combs with long, rounded stainless steel teeth positioned very close together have been shown to be the most effective, however, any head lice comb can be use.

ZOOPER DOOPER TUESDAYS

The grade 5/6 students will be selling Zooper Doopers on Tuesdays for $1 to raise money for their 5/6 Camp. Students can purchase them from the Canteen at lunchtime. SWIMMING The weather is heating up so please make sure your children are wearing sunscreen. Also please ensure all swimwear is labelled. Remember that parents / carers are not permitted to watch their children during swimming classes. There will be a designated time later in the term for parents to come and see their child’s progress. Thank you. VOLUNTEERS MORNING TEA We will be holding a special morning tea to say thank you to all our fabulous volunteers that help our school and student throughout the year. It will be in the staffroom on Tuesday 17th December from 11—11.30am. So if

you have helped in the classroom or canteen, been part of the Parents & Friends or helped with our working bees; we would love to see you there. SWIMMING TIMETABLE Swimming will return to it’s normal timetable next week: PREP A—TUES & FRI PREP G - MON & THURS 1H - WED & FRI 1W - MON & WED 2H - MON & THURS 2M - TUES & WED 3/4D - MON & FRI 3/4M - WED & FRI 4/5V - TUES & THURS 5/6M - TUES & WED 5/6W - MON & THURS THANK YOU A big thank you, as always, to Connell’s Bakery and Koo Wee Rup Woolworths for their continued support for our school.
