QUITO, ECUADOR | LTV BUDGET INTRODUCTION This document details the budget specifics for a Timmy long-term volunteer in Quito, Ecuador. Timmy’s LTV experience is a self-paid arrangement, whereby all one time expenses and monthly expenses are covered and arranged by the long-term volunteer. Short-term international medical insurance (ie. IMG), any medical service trip fees and the partner organization stipend (if applicable) are paid directly to Timmy headquarters in Indianapolis by the LTV via invoice from Timmy one month prior to travel. The remaining costs are paid directly by the long-term volunteer. If accepted to the LTV program, all LTVs will sign a budget agreement at confirmation. ONE TIME EXPENSES Visa document (if staying >90 days) – Approximately $250 USD Airline Ticket - Ranges between $900 -$1300 USD IMG – Global Medical Insurance Short-term (<6 months) - $1.75/day Long-term (>6 months) - Depends on level of coverage. Policies are available through Timmy and some form of coverage (including emergency & evacuation insurance) is required. Medical Service Trip If your LTV project includes involvement with our standard medical service trip to Quito or Santo Domingo, additional costs may be incurred including meals and lodging. This will need to be discussed and arranged with the Timmy Project Coordinator in Indianapolis on an individual basis ahead of time. The cost of meals & lodging for a LTV will be approximately $185 per medical service trip in Quito and $200 per medical service trip in Santo Domingo. Additionally, if you are involved in a research project and you require a translator, a translator will have to be procured and the LTV will be responsible for the translator housing & meals as well at the pricing listed above. Partner Organization Stipend – if applicable. This onetime fee will go directly to our partner in Quito, Tierra Nueva. This fee is based on the LTV’s length and depth of involvement with Tierra Nueva and will be determined on a case by case basis. Stipends range from $100 - $200/month. One-time Administrative Fee - nonrefundable $250, paid at the time of accepting LTV position, regardless of LTV duration PER MONTH EXPENSES Housing TBD: Range of $280 - $350 / month. Utilities may be additional. Transportation Shared taxi to/from airport to housing situation is approximately $30-$40 USD. The bus/trolley costs 50 cents one way to the Hospital Padre Carollo and takes generally one hour during rush hour. A taxi for the same one-way distance costs approximately $5-7 USD. A LTV may ride in the hospital van (with driver) out to the Timmy communities with the social workers for free if arrangements are made ahead of time when it is available. QUITO, ECUADOR | LTV BUDGET

Meals / Food If LTVs eat most meals at home, groceries are approximately $50-70/ week.  Dining out in Quito costs $3-4.00 lunch, $6-9.00 dinner. 

Cell phone $50 to purchase phone, $20/month to purchase minutes
