PREPARATION:Remove the jute hanger. Sand and seal the piece with DecoArt MultiPurpose Sealer. When dry sand again and remove sanding dust with a damp cloth. Apply the main pattern lines and basecoat as follows:

Colonial Blue – top area (where the stars will be)

Oyster Beige – word stripe and light stripes

Tomato Red – red stirpes

Warm White – quilt stars (on top blue area)

Khaki Tan – stencil the stars on light stripes

Antique Maroon – stripes and stitches on red stripes

Deep Midnight Blue – thin horizontal stripes

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:Shade the light blue areas around the quilt stars with Uniform Blue. Highlight the centers of the squares around the quilt stars with a dry brush highlight of Warm White. Shade the inner sides of the quilt stars with Colonial Blue. Highlight the points of the quilt stars with Warm White (yes, I know they’re basecoat-ed with Warm White, but the highlight does make a diff erence even if you need to repeat the step a couple times).

Shade the top, bottom and both sides of the word stripe with Asphaltum. Drybrush a highlight of Warm White in the center of the stripe. Transfer the words and paint them with Payne’s Grey.

Shade both sides and across the top of the red stripes with Black Plum. Highlight the center of the red stripes with a drybrush highlight of Fiery Red (this will take more than one application, but be sure it is dry before building on the highlight)

Shade both sides and across the top of the light stripes with Asphaltum. Highlight the center of the light stripes with a drybrush highlight of Warm White.

Highlight the center of the dark blue horizontal stipes with Colonial Blue. Shade both ends of these stripes with Payne’s Grey.

All of the stitches are Warm White.

FINISHING:Finish with a couple light coats of Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher – Gloss.

Re-attach the jute hanger.
