The art of the Quick Write

Um, a what write?

 A Quick Write is... 

• A way to talk with your pen• A place to get out all of your ideas

• A way to let go of your inner censor• A record of ideas for future writing

Why bother?

 A QW will help us to.. 

• Get into the habit of writing regularly• Inspire future pieces

• Record thoughts and ideas

What does a QW look like?

• Words in a list• A description• A memory• A story board• Regardless, it's continuous writing.

What to do during a QW?

• Write the whole time• Write freely - don't worry about spelling or mistakes• Play with your ideas• Experiment with something unfamiliar• Respect the other writers in the room - write quietly

  1. Describe your most embarrassing moment.– Describe your most embarrassing family member and

how they embarrass you.– Describe a time when one of your friends (or significant

other) met your parents?
