NOTE

All AR200-S series products have the same installation scenarios, installation methods, and cableconnections. This section uses AR207-S as an example.

Placing Chassis on the DesktopBefore placing the AR200-S on the desktop, attach rubber pads onto each of the four recessedcorner areas on the bottom of the chassis.

AR207-S

Wall-Mounting the Chassis

CAUTIONl When wall-mounting the AR200-S, do not attach rubber pads to the chassis. If the rubber

pads have been attached, remove them.l It is inconvenient to connect ground cables and network cables after mounting the AR200-

S chassis on the wall. Therefore, it is recommended that you connect cables before mountingthe chassis on the wall. If the chassis has been mounted on the wall, hold the chassis whenconnecting cables, preventing it from being detached from the wall. For the method ofconnecting cables, see 2.3 Connecting Device.

l When connecting cables, do not make the front plastic panel of the chassis touch the groundto avoid damage.

l It is recommended that you wall-mount the AR200-S with its front panel (with indicators)facing up and its rear panel (with interfaces) facing down.

l Use a ladder when mounting the chassis on the wall.

1. Use the template on the last page to mark the location for the two mounting screws and theupper, left, and right edges of the chassis on the wall.

10

Page 16: Quick Start Guide(V200R002C00_01)

2. The diameter of the mounting screws is 4 mm. Choose an appropriate drill bit accordingto the diameter of the mounting screws. Hammer the hollow wall anchors into the drilledholes. Screw the mounting screws into the wall anchors using a screwdriver. Leave thescrews protruding 2 mm from the wall.

3. Mount the chassis by aligning the mounting brackets on the back of the AR200-S usingmounting screws.

Page 17: Quick Start Guide(V200R002C00_01)

4. Connect the power adapter. Place the power adapter on a nearby horizontal surface, but donot hang it under the equipment.

Installing the Chassis in a Cabinet or Rack

CAUTIONl When installing the AR200-S in a cabinet or rack, do not attach rubber pads to the chassis.

If the rubber pads have been attached, remove them.l The guide rails or trays are not necessary for the installation in a cabinet or rack because the

AR200-S chassis can be fixed by rack-mounting brackets. Customers need to buy the rack-mounting brackets.

l It is recommended that you install the AR200-S with its front panel (providing indicators)facing inside and its rear panel (providing interfaces) facing outside.

l Ensure that the air exhaust vent is not obstructed in any way. Otherwise, the chassis mayoverheat.

1. Install two rack-mounting brackets. It is recommended that you install the rack-mountingbrackets close to the rear panel (providing interfaces).

2. Install two floating nuts on each side of the rack. The AR200-S chassis is 1 U high. Themounting holes located on the rack-mounting brackets will be fixed to two mounting holeson the rack.

4.2 Connecting to the Internet Through an EthernetInterface

This section describes how to connect to the Internet through an Ethernet interface.

Networking RequirementsAs shown in Figure 4-2, the router functions as the PPPoE client and connects user devices tothe PPPoE server. The user devices use the same user account. If the account is successfullyauthenticated by the PPPoE server, a PPPoE session is established.

The router obtains an IP address from the PPPoE server. The user devices can be assigned staticIP addresses on the network segment 192.168.1.0/24 or obtain dynamic IP addresses from therouter (DHCP server).

Configuration RoadmapThe configuration roadmap is as follows:

1. Create a dialer interface and set parameters for the dialer interface.2. Create a PPPoE session.3. Configure a static route from the router to the PPPoE server.

Data PreparationTo complete the configuration, you need the following data:l Parameters of the dialer interface, including the dialer interface number, dialer interface IP

address, dialer bundle, and idle-cut durationl Destination address, mask, and outbound interface of the static route

Procedure

Step 1 Configure the PPPoE server.Configure the authentication mode, IP address allocation mode, and IP address or IP addresspool for the PPPoE client. For details about the configuration procedure, see the documentationof the PPPoE server.

Step 2 Configure a dialer interface on the router.<Huawei> system-view[Huawei] sysname Router[Router] acl 2000 [Router-acl-basic-2000] rule 5 permit source 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 [Router] dialer-rule[Router-dialer-rule] dialer-rule 1 ip permit[Router-dialer-rule] quit[Router] interface dialer 0[Router-Dialer0] dialer user ethuser2[Router-Dialer0] dialer-group 1[Router-Dialer0] dialer bundle 1[Router-Dialer0] ppp chap user 12345678910[Router-Dialer0] ppp chap password cipher user1[Router-Dialer0] ip address ppp-negotiate
