THIS PLANNER BELONGS TO:
IF FOUND, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CONTACT:
PLAN IT, DO IT, FOLLOW THROUGH!I have this planner, so now how do I use it?
1. When I receive my class schedule at the beginning of the term, write it down or keep a copy in my planner.
2. Write down all assignments, exams, papers, and due dates from my course syllabi. When I get a new assignment in class, write it down THAT DAY!
3. Set goals and make to-do lists every month, and keep them updated. When I complete something, check it off the list.
4. Highlight tutoring and campus resources I can use right away, and make note of other resources suggested by my instructors.
• Use a color coding system! Get some pens, highlighters, post-its, and tabs in a variety of bright colors. Use a different color for each subject or activity.
• Have fun with stickers! Use stickers for important things like appointments, tests, quizzes, EXAMS, FINALS – OH MY!
• When setting your goals each term, implement SMART goals: S. (Specific), M. (Measureable), A. (Actionable), R. (Realistic), T. (Time-Based).
• Plan on keeping all course syllabi digitally or in a binder for later use. If I transfer, or plan another degree, I will need it! (Remember, course descriptions change from term to term.)
• It’s important to stay motivated! Write down sayings and quotes for daily inspiration.

ACADEMIC PLANNING
Columbus State academic advisors are guides who can help me understand and plan my academic pathway.
Advising can be accessed at most Columbus State locations, and through appointments by phone, email, and online conferencing.
Advising units at Columbus State are specialized by major. I can find my advisor at: cscc.edu/advising.
Academic Advisors...• Help plan classes that I need to take
• Recommend resources to help me succeed
• Work with me to create a long-term plan to complete my major and earn my degree
• Help me explore options for transferring my degree to a 4-year college
• Provide advice if I am struggling in my classes
I should schedule a meeting with my academic advisor before the middle of the semester.
Questions to ask my Advisor:
1. Can you help me make my Academic Plan?
2.
3.
4.
My Academic Plan (MAP)My Academic Plan (MAP) allows me to create a customizable, individualized plan for completing my degree —a MAP to find the way to graduation! It uses my degree audit to show what I have done and what I still need to do and allows me to plan my semesters. My advisor and I can work collaboratively to plot it out.
I can find and update MAP at https://daweb.cscc.edu
Pro tip: Check Starfish in Blackboard for your success plans.
Beyond Columbus State: MAP connects me with my career goals and university transfer options. I plan to discuss these with my advisor.

F Lock my vehicle and secure all valuables out of sight or in the trunk. Commonly stolen items such as laptops, purses, book bags, and textbooks are prime targets for theft.
