2. RequirementsThe Industrial Managed Switch provides remote login interface formanagement purposes. The following equipment is necessary for furthermanagement:

z Workstations runningWindows XP/2003/Vista/7/8/2008/10, MAC OSXor later, Linux,UNIX,orotherplatformsare compatiblewithTCP/IP Protocols.

z Workstations are installed with Ethernet NIC (Network InterfaceCard)

z SerialPortConnection(Terminal)

The above Workstations come with COM Port (DB9) or USB-to-RS232 converter.

The above Workstations have been installed with terminalemulator, such as Hyper Terminal included in Windows XP/2003,putty or tera term.

Serial cable -- one end is attached to the RS232 serial port,while theotherend to the consoleportof the IndustrialManagedSwitch.

z Ethernet Port Connection

Network cables -- Use standard network (UTP) cables with RJ45connectors.

The above PC is installed with Web browser and JAVA runtimeenvironment plug-in.

3. Wiring the Power InputsTheUpper Panel of the IndustrialManaged Switch comes with a DC inlet power socket andone6-contact terminal block. Please follow thesteps below to insert the power wire.

1.Insert positive/negative DC power wires into Contacts 1 and 2 forPower1,orContacts5and6forPower2.

2. Tighten the wire-clamp screws for preventing the wires from loos-ening.

4. Terminal SetupTo configure the system, connect a serial cable to aCOM port on a PCornotebookcomputerandtoRJ45typeserial(console)portof theIndustrialManagedSwitch.Theconsoleportof the IndustrialManagedSwitch is DCE already, so that you can connect the console portdirectlythroughPCwithouttheneedofnullmodem.

4.1. Logging on to the ConsoleOnce the terminal has been connected to the device, power on theIndustrialManagedSwitchandtheterminalwilldisplay“runningtestingprocedures”.

Note

The following terminal configuration of the IGS-5225-4UP1T2S is taken for an example.

Then, the followingmessage asks to log in user name and password.The default user name and password are shown as follows and thelogin screen in Figure 4-1 appears

Theuser cannowenter commands tomanage the IndustrialManagedSwitch.Foradetaileddescriptionofthecommands,pleaserefertothefollowing chapters.

4.2 ConfiguringIPaddressThe Industrial Managed Switch is shipped with default IP addressshownbelow:

IPAddress:192.168.0.100SubnetMask:255.255.255.0

To check the current IP address or modify a new IP address for theSwitch,pleaseusetheprocedureasfollows:

1. At the “#”prompt,enter “show ip interface brief”.

2.ThescreendisplaysthecurrentIPaddressshowninFigure4-2.

3.Atthe“#”prompt,enterthefollowingcommandandpress<Enter> as shown in Figure 4-3.

Ifyouarenot familiarwiththeconsolecommandortherelated parameter, enter “help” anytime in console to getthehelpdescription.

5. Starting Web ManagementThe following shows how to start up the Web Management of the Industrial Managed Switch. Note the Industrial Managed Switch isconfigured through an Ethernet connection. Please make sure themanager PC must be set to the same IP subnet address.

Forexample,thedefaultIPaddressoftheIndustrialManagedSwitchis192.168.0.100, then themanager PC should be set to192.168.0.x (where x is a number between 1 and 254, except 100), and thedefaultsubnetmaskis255.255.255.0.

5.1 Logging in to the Industrial Managed Switch1.Use Internet Explorer 8.0 or above for Web browser and enter IPaddress http://192.168.0.100 (the factory-default IP address) toaccess the Web interface.

2.Whenthefollowingdialogboxappears,pleaseenterthedefaultusername “admin” and password “admin” (or the password you havechangedbefore)asshowninFigure5-2.

The Industrial Managed Switch Menu on the top and left of theWeb page lets you access all the functions and status the IndustrialManaged Switch provides. The Switch Menu always contains one ormorebuttons, suchas“System”,“Switching”,“QoS”,“Security” ,“PoE”, “Ring”,“ONVIF”and“Maintenance”.

Now, you can use the Web management interface to continue theSwitch management. Please refer to the user manual for more.

5.2 SavingConfigurationviaWebTo save all applied changes and set the current configuration as astartup configuration, the startup-configuration file will be loadedautomatically across a system reboot.

1. Click the Save icon on the top Switch Menu bar.

2. Press the “SaveConfiguration” button.

6.RecoveringBacktoDefaultConfigurationTo reset the IP address to the default IP address “192.168.0.100” and the user password to factory default mode (default passwordis admin), press the hardware reset button on the front panel forabout 10 seconds. After the device is rebooted, you can log in themanagement Web interface within the same subnet of 192.168.0.xx and default password. Be noted that all the previous setups will bedisappearedafterthefactorydefaultresetismade.
