Questionnaire Analysis I created a questionnaire for Pop fans to find out information about them in relation to pop magazines. I will take this into consideration whilst completing my research and planning. I have spotted that there were only girls who filled out the questionnaire, which makes me realise the target audience is just for girls, not boys. Overall, I found the use of making a questionnaire for pop fans to fill out was very helpful as I gathered a result to help me prepare my music magazine. Here is an example of a filled out questionnaire that I prepared. The first question was "how old are you", so I know the ages of each individual pop fan. As a whole, the ages were 13-17 year olds so I am able to know the age range of people who like the genre Pop. I then asked who the person's favourite band is and why and 80% of the girls who I asked said female artists/bands like Katy Perry, Jessie J, Little Mix etc; the other 20% said male artists/bands like Justin Bieber, JLS, One Direction etc. This has made me realise that pop artists are more into the young, female artists who could be because they are more of an inspiration to young girls and they are more appealing than male artists. Though, men are still pop fans favourite as they are most likely to be attractive, causing girls to have a crush towards them. Another question I asked was if they have ever been to any live concerts. As a result, the majority said yes which is clear they are dedicated to the music they listen to and admire the pop singers. Most of them noted they have been to either the Summertime/Jingle bell Ball which is a mini festival that includes a variety of pop artists/bands, promoted and broadcasted by the famous radio station 'Capital FM'. This is obvious that they listen to the pop radio station, which is another way to show their dedication and interest towards pop music.

Questionnaire Analysis

I created a questionnaire for Pop fans to find out information about them in relation to pop magazines.

Each person who filled out my questionnaire put 'yes' for question 4 ("do you have any artists as your role model, if so who?"). There were a variety of pop artists stated but Jessie J and One Direction were the most common ones who popped up. This shows that out of the 20 people I asked, most of them look up to Jessie J and One Direction. This can be because they are successful, attractive and well known. I also asked the target audience if they read any Pop magazines... Nine people out of the 20 people I asked said yes. They either wrote down Top of the Pops, We Love Pop and one individual wrote Pop Girl. This has shown me that the most popular magazine out the people I asked was Top of the Pops, so I will find out more information about the magazine, what they feature and what attracts the reader.

For my question number six, I asked the audience to circle two articles they are most likely to read. 6 people circled 'the latest gossip on Justin Bieber and his new girlfriend', 12 people circled 'top fashion tips from Little Mix', 8 people circled 'tips on how to be more like Cheryl Cole' and 14 people circled the last option, 'Jessie J opening her heart about being bullied at school'. By these results, it is seen that young girls are most interested in Jessie J's story about being bullied at school and fashions tips given by Little Mix. This may be because Jessie J is such a popular, bubbly artist; people wouldn't think she got bullied at school. As Little Mix is also a well-known, stylish pop band, young girls would like to dress the way they dress as they are into the latest fashion and trends.

As a whole, the price range for how much a pop fan is willing to pay for a magazine is £1.50-£4.00. This is giving me an idea of the price I am going to set my magazine at. The last question I asked the girls was to circle two options that they thought grabs their attention the most on a front cover. Out of the 20 people I asked, 12 circled 'an image of your favourite singer/band, 17 people circled 'bright colours', 7 of them said 'bold, but cool fonts', 7 girls said 'an affordable price and 4 people circled 'the articles featured'. This proves that bright colours and favourite artist/bands are what mostly attract young girls towards a front cover. I will be using this result when creating my music magazine.
