Question: How does eLearning Work?

Answer: You can view the online tutorials that walk you through the PADI Virtual Classroom (PVC) set-up process in the eLearning Toolbox, accessed from Toolbox > eLearning > Tutorials on How to Use PADI eLearning. Thetutorials include:

• How to Add Web links to Dive Centre News and Alerts in your PADI Virtual Classroom• Sales and Communications - send targeted messages• Setting Up and Managing Your eLearning Virtual Classroom• Setting Up and Managing Your Virtual Classroom Look and Feel (video)• Student Registration

Additionally you may view a recorded webinar on “Effective Strategies to Promote and Get the Best from PADI eLearning” by clicking this link

Question: Can I see how eLearning works? Is it possible to have a preview of the virtual classroom?

Answer: Any dive centre or individual instructor can access the program if they have students who are enrolled on one of the online courses. This enables the dive centre to log in and see where the student has a problem for example.

You can access a tutorial to see how eLearning works. If you go to the eLearning page and click on “Purchase an eLearning Course” you will see an option See How eLearning Works This will take you to a short tutorial.

It is also possible to preview any of the eLearning courses online if you have previously purchased an eLearning gift Pass. If you have, then you can visit eLearning.padi.com and click on User Maintenance. Next click on Preview Courses – Sections – Choose a course.

Question: How does a student affiliate to a specific dive centre?

Answer: The student purchases the eLearning course themselves by going to: https://www.padi.com/elearning-scuba-registration. They can select the course they want to purchase (eg. Open Water Diver) and they must then choose a PADI registered dive centre to affiliate to. The selected dive centre would then receive a revenue share from the cost of the course.

The student completes the online theory and at the end prints off the final training record which they can take to any PADI instructor/dive centre, and arrange the in-water training wherever they wish.

This option follows the Open Water Referral guidelines as far as the rest of the procedures are concerned. A student can also use a link placed on your website directing them to eLearning where they are automatically linked to your dive centre. Please review “How do I place a link on my website?” below.

Question: How do I purchase an eLearning Gift Pass for my student?

Answer: To utilise the system as a dive centre, you must opt-in to participate in PADI eLearning® by visiting the eLearning™ section on the PADI Pros’ Site and set up your account. Upon signing up, you’ll be asked to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of the program.

Once you’re signed up, you will purchase a PADI eLearning Gift Pass™ (click on Gift Pass to view tutorial explain-ing how the Gift Pass works). You can buy up to 20 Gift Passes per course. Each of these has a unique access codewhich the student needs in order to register onto the course. This process ensures that your eLearners affiliate with you.

As a PADI Dive Centre, it is also possible to set up eLearning banners on your website that students can click on; see “How do I place a link on my website” below.

Another option would be to arrange an enquiry box for your students to sign up from your web-site, but you would have to manually send them the appropriate Gift Pass number for them to ac-cess the course. When you purchase the Gift Pass there is an option to email the Gift Pass directly to the recipient or print it out for distribution.

Question: How does the Gift Pass work?

Answer: When you purchase a PADI eLearning Gift Pass™ (click on Gift Pass to view tutorial explaining how the Gift Pass works) your eLearners automatically affiliate with you. Visit the “Manage your Gift Passes” page to email or print out the Course Gift Pass number for your student. This is a perfect way to bundle an entire course together or sell a diving trip with a course. The student then pays you directly and you set a fee for the student for the entire package.

Question: How do I place a link on my website?

Answer: It’s important to keep your website updated and fresh to make it more interesting and informative for your customers. The directions for setting up links from your website to the eLearning host are now available under a link in the eLearning toolbox (Market PADI eLearning > eLearning Banners & Buttons); setting up your links in the manner described will not only take eLearners to the eLearning site, they will also register eLearners to your centre automatically when they use the link, capturing new customers for you with a single mouse click. Please note that if you are unfamiliar with the programming language the script may look a little complex, but don’t worry; all you have to do is copy and paste the script straight in - or better still, have your web developer do it for you.Please follow these instructions;

1. Place your preferred eLearning banner or button image in the folder where you store the images for your website. Take note of the path to this image and the file name.

2. Replace the text below INPUT_YOUR_IMAGE_PATH_HERE/file name with the image path and file name you noted in step 1.

3. Paste the full script into your web design software, save your page, test and publish to your site. <a href=”https://www.padi.Com/elearning-scuba-registration/default.aspx?irra=3252” target=”_blank”><img src=”INPUT_YOUR_IMAGE_PATH_HERE/file name” ID=”eLearn” alt=”Sign up for PADI eLearning now!” /></a> For example;<a href=”https://www.padi.Com/elearning-scuba-registration/default.aspx?irra=3252” target=”_blank”><img src=”C:\Web site images\elearning3.gif” ID=”eLearn” alt=”Sign up for PADI eLearning now!” /></a>

In addition to the general link detailed above, the best way for a student to affiliate to a dive centre is by offering them a bespoke link. As a dive centre you can place an eLearning banner or image either on your website, in social media or simply on an email footer. Clicking on such a banner or image can direct the student directly to eLearning exclusively linked to your store target-ing a particular course in a specific language. Information on how to set this up can be found in the toolbox tab in the PADI Pros website, under ‘Marketing PADI eLearning’ and ‘eLearning Banner and Buttons’ and downloading a PDF titled ‘Adding PADI eLearning Links’ at the bottom of the page.

Question: How can I find out my eLearning login details?

Answer: Firstly you need to register by logging in to the Pros section of the website. Then you need to go Toolbox and click on eLearning from the drop down menu. You can then select PADI eLearning Login Info.

If you follow the instructions to set up an eLearning account the system will automatically generate an eLearning password for you (specific to the eLearning zone). Please note this is not the same as your Pros site login details. You will be sent two emails. One will detail your Administrator login details (to customise you virtual classroom and review and communicate with eLearners on the system). The second email will provide you with student login details so that you may sign in as a student to view the changes to your virtual classroom as a student would see.

Question: How do I set up my Virtual Classroom?

Answer: With immediate effect you can start preparing to welcome PADI eLearners into your business by setting up your eLearning PADI Virtual Classroom (PVC); of particular importance is to start setting up your dive centre logos, contact information for your centre and other information that will assist in communicating with new customers joining you via eLearning, and help with promoting your dive services to them.

We have provided an eLearning portal so that you can administer your virtual classroom, carry out dive centre maintenance, and manage and monitor your eLearning students; in order to access the portal please go to http://elearning.padi.com – you may like to bookmark / add this page to your favourites.

You will then need to enter your eLearning username and password; your username (Login) is the email address on file for your RRA membership and your eLearning password – XXXXXXX.

Once you have logged in to the eLearning portal follow the link to “Dive Center Maintenance”, “Edit Dive Center Information”. You may like to visit this page and verify / edit information shown there and upload your logo. Also follow the link to “User Maintenance”, “View/Download Student Reports”, “Student Course Progress Data”; select “All Courses” and “All Students”, “Continue”. This will list all students that are currently undertaking eLearning through your facility, as well as those that have already completed their eLearning through your facility.

Question: How do I claim my revenue share?

Answer: As soon as a student either registers with your dive centre for eLearning and begins the course, or uses a Gift Pass, you can claim back the revenue share. You can do this via PayPal or by having a Sales account at PADI which you can use to buy PADI materials. Revenue share will be distributed on a monthly basis based on your preference of a Sales account or PayPal. Please contact the Sales Department, in order to arrange how you will receive payment for your eLearning Students. [email protected]

Question: How much is the revenue share?

Answer: The amount varies according to the cost of the online program. Details can be found on the PADI Pros site. There is a link to the current revenue share rates in the eLearning Gift Zone (found on the right hand side of the Home Page). On the next page you will see the Terms and Conditions and a link to revenue share near the bottom of the page.

Question: How much does the online course cost?

Answer: The course price schedule can be found on the PADI Pros site. Please look in the Pros News & Events section on the Home page.

Question: How do I communicate with my students?

Answer: Businesses that wish to communicate with their stu-dent divers via email and discuss functions should review the eLearning Sales and Communication Orientation. This orientation demonstrates how to customize eLearn-ing to reflect your brand and establish communication protocols. For PADI Dive Centres you can setup au-tomatic section and completion emails which can be tailored to your dive centre and location. Access to these communications can be found in the User Maintenance and Course Maintenance sections of the PVC. View this recorded webinar to find out how to set this up.

Question: Who can accept eLearning completion records?

Answer: All PADI Instructors may accept eLearning Records from divers who have completed knowledge development online – similar to the way you accept a referred student diver who has only completed knowledge development with another instructor. Instructors must complete confined water and open water dives, and also administer the Quick Review before issuing certification.

Question: What happens if the student affiliates to the wrong dive centre?

Answer: We can change this if you can provide the correct details. Please note that the revenue share will already have been paid out to the original store within 24 hours and is therefore non-transferable.

Question: How can I check my Gift Passes?

Answer: Please follow these steps:

• Go to the eLearning reg. home page http://www.padi.com/elearning-scuba-registration• Select ‘View Purchased Gift Passes’ (last option)• Sign in• Select ‘Print Gift Pass’

This will give you a copy that you can send to anyone for redemption.

Question: A student is having trouble redeeming their Gift Pass?

Answer: Please check you have not already allocated this to someone. Have the student log in to the general padi.com website and login to the eLearning site from there to “Redeem the eLearning Gift Pass”. Then follow the registration instructions.

Question: How do I change or amend the eLearning courses offered through my store?

Answer: Log in to the Pros site as normal, then click on “My Account”. There is an option to “Change my eLearning preferences”.

Question: What can I do if I have entered the incorrect student email address?

Answer: This is not really a problem. The student will be able to enter the correct email address of his choice when he redeems the Gift Pass.

Question: The dive shop is not showing up in the search locator options?

Answer: There could be a number of reasons for this, either the dive centre is not renewed for the current year or we do not have the latitude and longitude co-ordinates associated with their store. If you log into PADI Pro site and navigate to ‘My Account’, there is a utility to set the latitude and longitude. This will link automatically to the diveshop locator function.

Question: How does the student contact us if he needs assistance?

Answer: Student divers may interact with their dive centre or instructor by phone, email or discussions, depending upon individual preferences and capabilities available. This allows the instructor to answer eLearner’s questions, provide local diving information, discuss dive equipment needs, promote trips, schedule the next phase of training, etc.

You may have eLearners participate in confined water sessions and open water dives while continuing to study independently online. This allows you to communicate with them in-person during water sessions.

Question: How does the store track the student’s progress?

Answer: To view student progress data, the store should log into the admin portal using their admin email and password (with role ‘admin’).

http://elearning.padi.com/10.cfm?lingual=eng

Once logged in, they would select ‘User Maintenance’Then select ‘View/Download Student Reports’Then select ‘Student Course Progress Data’The rest should be self-explanatory.

Question: How do I check the student has completed the online theory?

Answer: The student must print off their final Training Record to give to the receiving instructor/dive centre. This shows all their Knowledge development scores and the results of the Final Exam. This must be retained with the student training records for future reference. Instructors must complete confined and open water dives and also administer the Quick Review before issuing certification.

Question: Does the eLearning have to be completed before the in-water training?

Answer: You may have eLearners participate in confined water sessions and open water dives while continuing to study independently online. Please refer to the current Instructor Manual for sequencing considerations and in-water training.

Question: Where do I find the Quick Reviews?

Answer: These are in the Toolbox>eLearning section of the Pros site.

Question: If the course has expired, is there a way to re-activate or extend it?

Answer: Normally the student would have to purchase the course again, if they exceed the 12 months access date. (This is clearly stated in the Course details when they sign up). An extension may be considered if there are extenuating circumstances. Bearing in mind they have had 12 months to complete the online program and a resort course would take approximately 4-5 days for the entire program.

Question: If the course was registered in the wrong name by accident, how do I transfer this to someone else?

Answer: We can refresh the Gift Pass so you can re-issue it to someone else, or it may be possible to trans-fer the course. Please contact us for details on the procedures for this.
