have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Effective Editing

In the preliminary task, we did not use any editing other than the different shots that were used. This meant we did not have a good amount of footage t do the editing with meaning it didn’t look as good.

In Lost in London, we used a lot more effective editing such as Cross-cutting, double speed and slow motion. Cross-cutting worked the best as this way we could see 2 perspective which made it a lot more interesting to watch creating a great atmosphere into what was happening.

Framing

The framing is very important to create the atmosphere in this piece.

In the preliminary task, we did not use the tripod which made it much harder for the shots to be focused making it not as effective as some were shaky.

In the real product, we used a tripod when we could which made it a lot more effective to get the right aspects across to the audience. As well as doing the shots with the camera being used from the character to get the feel of it being the view of them.

Using Effects

In the preliminary task, we did not use any effects other than the different shots that were used. This didn’t make it very engaging for the audience and made it dull and boring for them.

In the real product, there were no big effects used other than when the shots were too dark, we used the saturation and contrasting levels of the shots to make them a lot clearer for the audience to see making this slightly more pixelated but adding the sense of realism.

Mise-En-Scene

The mise-en-scene in the preliminary task didn’t really exist, we didn’t have very much to go by other than the character stood at the grave.

In the real product, we were a lot more sensible to create the better atmosphere which then makes it more interesting for the audience. We used the shot with the stranger walking behind and the bandana to make it more mysterious.

Sound

We used sound in both of our tasks, both being quite dark and intense.

In the preliminary task, when the story line got more dramatic, the music change tone and got a lot more fierce as well as the character.

In the real product, the music fits in really well to the thriller genre creating the mysterious atmosphere and making it more daunting for the audience to watch and listen to.

Creation Of Credits

In the preliminary task, there was only one at the start and this was very boring, it was one font and had no effects to it making it very dull.

We took this into consideration as it didn’t catch the audiences attention early on so made it more interesting.

We had the different style of font to look different as well as a glow whenever it left the screen. At the end of the opening it was also a lot more creative by having the splattered blood.

Use of Lighting

In the preliminary task, it was filmed during the day so the lighting was good although looked quite dull.

Lost in London was filmed at night therefore making it a lot harder for the camera to be light making it more challenging to be clearer. Although it was not very clear and light, we used some torches to help and also when it came to editing, made the saturation a lot brighter making it a little more clearer.
