Question 6: What have you learned about technologies
from the process of constructing this product?
By Jacob Chisnall
Digital SLR Cameras – Canon 1100D
Using the Canon1100D I learnt how to adjust the focus using
the lens so I could use it to focus on the foreground when
using my model or to focus on the background to create
effect. Secondly, I learnt to use the auto focus when taking lots
of photos at once so the image never became blurred or out
of focus.
Photoshop
On Photoshop I learnt to use the quick selection tool to
highlight areas of the picture that I wanted deleted and the
refine edge tool to create a smoother effect for things such as
the hair of the model so it didn’t look as if it had been cut out.
I also learnt to use the eye dropper tool to extract the colour
from the models hat to match the colour scheme of the
magazine, as well as the crop tool to make my images smaller
to fit to the window. I learnt how to use the shape tool
effectively to create layers and boxes for additional
information on the page and effect.
QuarkXPress
On quark I learnt to use the columns when adding my text to
create the conventional features of a typical double page
spread. Also, I learnt to use the picture content tool to edit the
areas of the photo I want to be shown on the page and the
bits I want cut off as well as the drop capital in the initial
introductory paragraph to fit the conventions of a double page
spread.
Blogger
From constructing my product I learnt to display it organised
and chronologically on blogger so that it was easy to display in
order of completion. I also learnt to use slideshare for things
such as my the screenshots of the editing process of the pages
of my magazine to put on blogger so that I could display my
PowerPoint slides on blogger without adding each photo
individually which was efficient as it saved a lot of time.
