Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

Using this at the start really makes it look as though it is a real film with the company coming up first. This gives the audience the signal that it is about to start. The music that goes with this is also different to the opening music as the ‘Actief Pictures’ gets used on all of the films products as well as the companies music to go with it. Also creates a sense of realism to the opening that we have made.

This shot of Big Ben sets the scene straight away as to that it is set in London as this is a key landmark that everybody knows about. Big Ben is a large tourist attraction so people would know that it gets very busy around here creating the atmosphere as to what might happen next. The shot pans up Big Ben as well which shows the detail of the building and leading to the top.

Having this close up of the time shows significance to the audience that it is late at night and also creating tension as to why it is on the close up of the time as if the audience should take notice to this part of the opening for a reason.

This is where the first movement shot is seen and this shot is with the camera moving quite fast which may confuse the audience as to what is being shown but it shows a sense rushing around and from the point of view shot; it looks as though they are looking around the street. The music works well at this point as it sounds s

This shot is also seen to be quite blurry and rushed showing the sense of it being busy and that there are a lot of things happening in London. This shot is also had the slow motion effect added which shows a sense of not knowing where they are. This again is from the point of view as to what the character is looking at. At the end of the shot it quickly looks at the London Eye which then shows where abouts the character is and showing another famous landmark.

This is the first shot we see of the characters all sat together and they all seen very happy and talking to each other showing they get along really well.

The camera cuts to this shot of the bandana on the hand. This suggests to the audience that this is the main character and that this is a key part for the audience to remember as it is there for a reason. The way the camera jumps straight to this adds a sense of tension as to why the audience are being shown this which then adds mystery and confusion.

This is the shot which all the friends on the spinning object in the park. The colours are all dark and it is quite hard to see what is happening however, the friends are all seen to be having fun. This would add the sense of anticipation as to what is going to happen next as by this point nothing has been explained or shown to cause a story line.

Page 3: Question 5

This is now the shot of the girl by herself on the swing and she is looking around the park and looks quite worries. This makes the audience think, where are her other 2 friends which then starts the story line of the film making the audience engaged wanting to find out more.

Again is another shot of the bandana on the hand showing that it is the same character and therefore relates back to before and is a key way of locating where she is and noticing that it is her. It makes the audience wonder why this bandana is such a key aspect to the film.

The character is still on the swing, this time however the shot is in slow motion adding a sense of mystery and tension. The light that is being shone behind her with the silhouette of a person adds tension to the shot as well as the audience doesn’t yet know who this is and adds a sense that someone may be looking for her and that she is not alone…

This is a shot of a train going past which to the audience makes it seem as though she is possible on the train or that there is something on the train that might be coming for her. It makes the audience see that there is a lot happening and that she is not alone although she thinks she is.

Page 4: Question 5

In this shot, there is a double speed shot of the tourists walking around showing that is busy and adding the sense of where they are, this may be seen to the audience that from one of the characters perspectives, they are looking around London and from the others, they are looking down at the pavement as the other shot I slow motion of the pavement, where they are walking.

This is a shot of the girl running away towards the London Eye which shows she is alone, worried and lost. The other shot that is cross-cut with it is the a slow motion shot of where she is looking as she runs around which makes it slightly blurry and she starts to fade away making the audience wonder where she has gone. Adding a sense of secrecy.

This is seen to be the girl that is lost, taking a picture of the London Eye. This picture that she takes is shown over the top of her taking the picture. Her taking this picture shows the audience that she may be taking it for a memory point of view or so she can ask someone where she is. It then happens again as she turns around to take a picture of Big Ben which is then shown in the shot after.

The girls 2 other friends are now seen to be walking in exactly the same spot as the other girl was and that they are looking for her. The shot is double speed showing the sense of urgency they have to look for her. The shot before of her taking the picture of the London Eye suggests that she is not ar away from them as they are walking towards the London Eye in the next shot.

Page 5: Question 5

It goes to the spinning object that all 3 friends were on at the start of the opening and this time with no body on it but you can vaguely see the bandana on one of the handles showing that she was there alone but she is gone. This adds mystery as to where she has gone and that the bandana has been taken off of her to stop the form of identification being shown.

Again is another shot zoomed in of the bandana on the swing alone suggesting this time that the bandana is being moved by someone. This form of identification shows that she is no longer around and that she has either been taken away or that she no longer is around.

This title is shown in a splatter of blood which may show danger, death or torture which to the audience is then seen as she is no longer alive perhaps. This makes the audience want to carry on watching to find out what has happened to the girl and making them want to know if she is alive and where she has gone capturing them into the film early on.
