In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge

forms and conventions of real media products?

Question 1

Page 2: Question 1

Does your product look like a music magazine? Why?

I think my product does look like a music magazine because of the colours and the text that I have used for my magazine. The details that I have added are also relate to music. The clothes that my model is wearing also relates to music and the subgenre of hip hop. I think my product could be improved to be better but I think it does go along with the music magazines.

What analysis of existing professional products did you do?

I used a barcode which was from Google images and I then did not really use much existing professional products. I made my own edits on Photoshop CS6 which I had installed at home. I looked at other existing magazines such as Vibe, XXL, NME etc. These magazines helped me a lot and helped me make my magazine.

Does your magazine clearly fit into the music genre or is it unclear?

Well, the magazine sort of fits the music genre and the reason for this is the details that I have given on my front cover and my double page spread. The clothing (mise-en-scene) also makes the audience know about what genre it is. The model on my contents page is sitting on the railing which shows the audience that it’s hip hop because of the way he is sitting.

How have you used models as music artists?

I have used models as music artists In many ways. One of these reasons is the facial expressions. There facial expressions are like the ones that I looked at while I was constructing my media c/w. I was directing the models on how to stand. I was also in charge of what they should wear so I decide to make them wear clothes that hip hop artists usually wear. I made them wear snapbacks and made the model on my contents page wear a earing. Both the models had good facial expressions which matched the genre of hip hop.

How have you used photography, editing and mise-en-scene?

I have used photography in many ways. I have edited my photos so they look like professional magazine pictures. I also made effects on them like blurring them and putting shadow effects on them. On my contents page I cropped two images out and put them on one page so it looks like a realistic contents page. I also made the models wear specific clothes which related the genre of hip hop so the audience can tell straight away what genre it is. The models represent artists from hip hop so they have earrings. I wanted to have a model with tattoos because it would have looked more better but I could not find one.

How have you used layout design?

I have used the layout design in many ways. I done a article which includes an interview. I put that into columns and made it all straight so it would look neat. On my front cover my texts go around as the picture so they look professionally good. My layout design would also help in attracting the audience. On my contents page I cropped out two images and place them in two different places on the same page as most hip hop contents pages have. The numbers of the pages are then laid next to the images with the masthead placed on top of the page. On my front cover the masthead is covered by the image of the model which shows the audience that the magazine is already well known.
