The Queensland Workforce Skilling Strategy - Rockhampton is an initiative of Energy Skills Queensland funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Human Services under the Better Futures, Local Solutions initiative. The Australian Apprenticeships Access Program is funded by the Australian Government.
How does the program work?
The Queensland Workforce Skilling Strategy (QWSS) provides industry driven job readiness training for job seekers to assist them in gaining sustainable employment.
The QWSS team provides participants with specific skill sets tailored to meet industry needs.
Work Readiness Skills
The program provides intensive skills and support and industry specific training:
• Job preparation • Work safe skills • Life and personal skills • Resume writing / presentation • Industry talks and tours • Individual mentor support • Communication in the workplace• Team building• Occupational Health and Safety • Job search
Eligibility
To be eligible, participants must be an Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander, and unemployed.

Success Rates
The Queensland Workforce Skilling Strategy trained over 450 participants in 2012, with 70% of those participants now placed in long term sustainable employment.
Energy Skills Queensland is the Industry Skills Body leading energy industry and government engagement on education and training, skills development and labour market issues.
