TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

THE GOD OF PEACE IS WITH US

By God’s grace, modern medicine and science have made great strides in helping people deal with anxiety. Today, we are encouraged to know that being grounded in a good prayer life can also go a long way toward lessening the anxieties that disrupt the quiet of our hearts.

Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone...? Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit." - Mt

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

The good news of this Gospel is that all we need to do is let God tend us and bring us to produce good fruit. All we need do is be faithful; God will take care of the rest.

Please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to bring the love and mercy of Jesus to those who feel left out and abandoned.

VOCATIONS

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” Like the work of Jesus, ministry in His church is countercultural. It is rooted not in the world of passing things, but God’s eternal kingdom.

If God is calling you to a Church vocation, call Father Andrew Lauricella at 847-5535.

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

MST is an intensive, family-focused intervention provided in the natural environment of the youth. Interventions are research-based and the program offers 24/7 availability. CATHOLIC CHARITIES Catholic Charities is now a children’s health home pro-vider. If you are feeling overwhelmed with keeping up with your child’s medical care and physical, dental and/or men-tal health appointments, Catholic Charities can help. Catholic Charities is now a children’s health home pro-vider through Encompass Family Health Home. Through the health home, children and their families are given a net-work of providers, health plans and community-based or-ganizations that work to ensure the child’s needs are met, including physical, dental, mental health or simple support. To learn more about the program and eligibility require-ments, visit www.ccwny.org/encompass_health_ home or call 716-218-1400 ext. 2012. OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS CHAPEL SENIORS Chapel Seniors is a social group for the over 60 crowd. They meet every other Thursday at 1 PM, and activities include day trips, Bingo, cards and picnics—just to name a few. Meetings are held at Our Lady Help of Christians’ School Hall located at 4125 Genesee Street in Cheekto-waga. For more information about this group, including the annual group dues and kitchen dues contact, Carol Ro-bichaud at 716-681-7640. All are welcome!

LIVING THE WORD The word “faith” comes from the Latin “fides,” which also means “trust.” The verb form is “fidere,” which means “to trust.” To have faith or be a faithful disciple means not only that we understand the content of our belief but that we are called to trust in God. When we put our faith into action we are exhibiting our trust in the God who made us, cares for us, directs us, and shapes us continually. The next time you recite the creed or make some other statement of faith, substitute ”I trust” in place of “I believe” and see what difference it makes in your perspective, how it widens your understanding of faith.

FRIDAY DINNERS AT THE DONOVAN POST The F.J. Donovan American Legion Post, 3210 Gene-see Street, continues their weekly Friday Dinners, serving from 4 to 8 PM. Food service is by the Szara Family. JUST A REMINDER
