Dear Club Families and Friends,
We are very excited to announce that we have grown! We’ve increased our
impact by merging Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim Boys & Girls Club of
Cypress. The great programs, locations, services, and awesome staff that
you know and count on are still here for you at your local locations. We now
have eight Clubhouses in the cities of Anaheim and Cypress. The name for
our new organization is Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress.
Together we are creating a bold vision for the future of youth development.
We are uniting our organizations to increase our presence in Anaheim and
Cypress strengthening our ability to provide our proven life changing
programs to more children in a greater geographical area.
Together we are changing lives for the better and giving hope of an even
better future. Great futures really do start here – with YOU and Boys & Girls
Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress.
Appreciatively,

Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim
and Boys & Girls Club of Cypress
merged on July 1, 2019 to serve
more youth with greater impact.
Both Clubs have long histories of
service, have collaborated
successfully together, and
believe that joining forces is the
next right step for making an
even greater difference for their
communities.
“The needs in our communities
are continuing to increase.
Together we will connect with

stakeholders and funders to
increase their engagement and
investment in this important
mission, and increase our
impact on the members we
currently serve and prepare to
serve those that still need the
Club experience, stated John
Machiaverna, Executive Director
of Boys & Girls Clubs of
Anaheim.
“Together we are creating a bold
vision for the future of youth
development. We are combining
our strengths to provide a world

class Club experience across a
broader service area and
position the Club for additional
strategic growth to serve the
community members who don’t
yet have a local Club,” stated
Anne Hertz, CEO of Boys & Girls
Club of Cypress.
Both Clubs are of similar size
and scope. Anaheim operates
three locations in Anaheim
including an innovative Teen
program in an affordable
housing complex and numerous
community-based activities in
their Family-Resource Center in
one of the highest-need
neighborhoods in Anaheim.
Cypress operates five locations
in the City including the newly
opened program on the Cypress
College Campus and the newly
constructed Teen Center which
is set to open in March.
Combined the Club membership
will include over 3,000 children
and teens. The Club will be
conducting community needs
assessments to help plan
strategic growth into unserved
communities in their cities.
Meet our
Board of Directors.

Community& Partnerships
Do you remember how it felt to
get ready for the first day of
school? Were you able to
purchase all of the school
supplies you needed? Or did
your family struggle to provide
you with those important first
day of school items? Here at
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater
Anaheim-Cypress our members
and their families don’t have to
worry about starting school with
all the necessary supplies.
Thanks to our wonderful
community partners, Angels
Baseball, every Club member is
prepared. On Tuesday, August
6th the Angels hosted a Back to
School Clothing Drive for Club
members and hundreds of youth
throughout Orange County. The
Angels generously provided two
polo shirts, one pair of pants,
one pack of underwear, one
pack of shoes and one pair of
shoes to each child. The children
were thrilled to visit the stadium,
play games with the Angels
Strike Force, and enjoy a
delicious lunch.
The Angels continuously hit it
out of the park for kids and the
community. Many thanks to our
long-time Board Member Dennis
Kuhl, Chairman of the Angels,
for making this a tremendous
annual event.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to ALL those who volunteered on the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress Playground Build at Cedar
Glen Park. The outpouring of support from our partners at KaBOOM! & Tarsadia Foundation, and the amazing volunteers from the community, service groups and local businesses was more than we could have imagined. If you were there on Build Day, Prep Day,
Design Day, on a Planning Committee, donated supplies or simply shared our posts we are very grateful for your time and talents!
