I created the main layout for the contents page in Photoshop first then added all of the text on to it in quark.

I created the ribbon by using the rectangle tool, I rotated it slightly and sliced the right side down vertically. I created another rectangle in which I cut a triangle out of for the end of the ribbon which gave the effect of it wrapping around the sidebar.

Each page box was made using the rectangle tool and then I added a slight gradient onto it through the layer styles.

I blurred the background of the image to focus the attention to the subject I also increased the brightness and reduced the contrast slightly.

I imported the Facebook, and twitter icons into the document which were saved as PNG images to preserve transparency, I then had to remove the box background as it automatically adds a white background to images.

I created rectangle behind the caption and changed the opacity slightly so you could see the background through it.
