I started manufacturing blinds in 1987 after 15 year’s of experience my wife Helen & I gained

as both retailers and interior decorators. Our knowledge & experience was applied in setting up to

manufacture high quality custom made blinds for the trade. Today Blinds by Peter Meyer is highly

regarded as one the finest manufacturers of quality blinds and awnings in Australia.

The business is now run by our sons, Simon and Damien and I’ve taken the role of Chairman of

the Board. This generational change has proven extremely successful with the company

now strengthened with additional energy, innovation and ideas. Simon and Damien

bring extensive industry experience to our business with their 30 years combined

experience adding considerably to our expertise & customer service. With our

industry background, management exper ience and strong team of in house

specialists, we’re able to understand the industry, indoor and outdoor, from both

reta i l and manufactur ing perspect ives.

Our blinds and awnings are available in most states and larger cities through our

network of Aust ra l ian reta i le rs, des igners and decorators as wel l as

New Zealand and Singapore. Our driving passion

Saving energy costs is an increasingly important subject these days.

Interior window blinds which are intelligently installed can contribute here. Simply Cell honeycomb shades have an insulating function

so regardless of season and outside temperature this has a positive effect on the room climate. This is achieved through its cellular

construction with air pockets. These function superbly to keep the room cool in the summer and reduce heat loss in the winter.

Our high-quality 25mm - Simply Cell shades feature invisible punched holes where the cords run through the honeycomb. Blackout

the awning is projected. A contemporary design ideal for larger windows and by using fi xed side rails an

The most effective form of external shading is achieved through operable and retractable

blades. The Type 80 is a fully variable system providing exterior views and natural light whilst

blocking all direct sunlight. With up to 85% of solar gain eliminated, cooling costs are greatly

reduced (internal temperatures can fall up to 10ºC), clear glass can be used in place of

expensive tinted glass and there is less need for artifi cial lighting. The result is a healthier work

or living environment.

All our awning skins are made in our Homebush

factory using the latest Triad welding technology

rather than stitching the skins together which

tends to deteriorate over time. This ensures

there are no stitch holes in our awning covers or

exterior roller blind skins.

We naturally applied similar standards of

excellence in our choice of the fabrics for our

exterior range, to compliment the quality of the

systems and hardware that they will be part of.

What to consider when choosing your fabric

Air Flow

Clear PVC is great for unrestricted view through,

however air fl ow is not an option. If you are

enclosing a verandah or patio, consider if you

still want to have a nice cool breeze coming

through. If this is required ensure to select an

open weave fabric with around 10% openness.

Privacy & View Through

There are open and closed weave awning

fabrics. Consider if you want day or night time

privacy. An open weave fabric in a dark colour

gives fantastic view through in the day, but also

allows others to see in at night.

Durability

Be mindful that when a fabric is outdoors it is

exposed to the elements. Fabrics with Sanitized®

Antimicrobial Protection or DURAGUARD®

Protection keep odours away, protects against

the development of bacteria, resists stains

and stops mildew and fungi build up ensuring

freshness in your home.

Colour Fastness

Ensure the fabric you choose has excellent fade

resistance to the sun. Any fabric with fade

resistance rate of 6 and above is reliable and

will ensure your fabric remains the colour you

selected for many years to come.
