CFP Exams is said to be an assessment test that will gauge your learning in all aspect of financial services. On top of that this exam will also gauge your knowledge and skills on how you will apply what you have learned once you are placed in a real life financial situation.

The CFP certification exam is a post graduate test taken by financial planners and other professionals who wish to take their career further, strengthen their career, apply for a higher or different job position, change careers, get better salary compensation, broaden their knowledge, enhance their skills and most of all keep up with the standards of the financial services industry.

CFP Exams is administered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and it covers almost a hundred if topics that cover financial planning field as well as all aspects of financial services. This includes the investment planning program, insurance planning program, income tax planning program, estate planning program, retirement planning program and many more.

The CFP Certification Examination is a 10 hour exam that is given in 2 consecutive days. It will be a four-hour session on Friday and two 3-hour sessions on Saturday. The exam is consists of 285 multiple choice questions with one case study per session. The exam is consists of 285 multiple choice questions with one case study per session.

The total number of questions that is related to case studies usually varies from one exam to another. But approximately 20% of the exam is consists of case study questions. The criterion for the passing rate of the CFP exam is measured according to the set level of required competency rather than against the scores of other individuals who have taken the same exam.

This is done in order to prevent any advantages or disadvantages that took place when past exams were of higher or lower difficulty.

To qualify in taking the Certified Financial Planner Exam there is a set requirement given by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards that you must complete. You have to earn a Bachelor’s degree or higher from any form of discipline as long as it is from an accredited college or university.

Aside from that you also have to complete the CFP course program wherein you have to take special courses. Another requirement that you have to complete is the three years work experience as a full time financial planner, assistant financial planner or any career related in financial services.

After completing the educational and working qualifications you must then submit to a full background check and lastly, you must adhere closely to the Code of Ethics set by the CFP Boards.
