How to create an effective brand for our main and auxiliary tasks.
Using the same or similar artwork featured in all three products:
In this example of Rhianna’s album “Loud” we see how the poster, digipak and video all use similar imagery and iconography to cross promote each other.
How is this achieved?-The use of colourThe colour of all three products have been desaturated and have a red tint to them-Similar themesThe floral theme is prominent throughout all three products which brings them together giving them common features-Similar posesAs seen in these examples many of Rhianna's poses through the video are then mimicked on the digipak and magazine advert.
“Final Straw” was the breakthrough album of snow patrol , featuring the most famous track “Run”. The album became iconic was their fame spread across Europe and although the three product may not obviously go together there are some similarities which link them.
As we can see there is a clear link between the magazine and album cover, however the video screen shot appears to be quite different. However certain techniques have been used to create the same vibe across three products such as the lighting. Similar to the album cover artwork the light is shining on the main singer like the sun on the album
The same font types are often used in both the digipak and poster as this creates a strong and clear brand for the band. In particular the killers always use the same font for the band name making their work instantly recognisable.
In all three products there in a clear link created through the use of imagery. The images of the women are seen in the video and album cover. All three products all have a very American country western retro feel to them created through the use of black and white, colour balance and the grainy effect featured on all three products. This is also created through the iconography we would typically associate with this e.g. The goat, the “Miss” pagongent etc.
How this has influenced us
From this research into how a strong brand is created we understood how we could achieve this ourselves:
-Using similar/ the same imagery/ iconography/ fonts-Creating a look which suits the style and tone of music
-Use similar themes and poses angles and shots throughout
-Similar colours and lighting used
Layouts
As shown in these examples we have used similar layouts and styles to exsisting products.
Fonts
We have used clear simple font which are easy to read as many existing products do. We have also used different fonts to differentiate between band name and album name.
