At Oban, where we stayed overnight, a recl hellcopter was cloingplea-qure fllghts from a slte on the eilge of town; while atnearby North Connel Airfield, which is-the home of the ConnelGlitting Club, a lone light aircraft was parked up. It waspartly coverecl over, so the registration-letters-were hidclen.Heading home, we lurtchecl at Ectinburgh Airport in a cafd over-looking an apron. The izl-lOO was load6d wirh halfof us i-n Ehe front section and half in the rear for the 30minute hop down to Norwichrs runway 09. I understand thaE ouroriginal Alrcraft had gone'Tech'in Cardiff and that GOLE LIMAjoined us from Manchest.er from where it r.ras scheduled to fIy toPalma!. On the ground at I'lorwich was BP Survey F27 - VR-BLX infront of six unidentified F27s, some where aIi white with nomarkings. The Air UK doors r.rere closed but F1O0 G-UKFB wasoutsi.de. Having virtually filled rhe middle section of ourBoeing and completely changed our crews, we taxied out. past themakeshift car storage area to the Llest end of the terminal andwere informed that the t.our operator and carrier had agreed toadd 2 hours on !o ttre end of our planned day so as we would notIose-out due to the delay. t{e took off Eastbound at 10.25,after allowing another mysEery white F27 to land, across theNorth Sea and routing over Belgiurn to Bonn and Frankfur! at33r000, during t.his time we enjoyed a hot breakfast and barservice. The thick English cloud gave way to gradually morebroken ones until a hazy but clear sky greeted our SW landing1t hrs after deparEure. We had been liien a stand right at ihevery end of the long apron tha! sEretches in front of thePraha-_Ruzyne airporl and before we had parked properly besidesDELTA 727- N88902, up popped a Skoda with POLICE marked on rheside from which the occupants sat and raEched us all dis-embark!. Two buses whisked. our intrepid travellers back up tothe terminal building which allowed only a limited opportunityto note a few of the mainly Tupolev dominated scene of about i0Aircrafc. Those I did (warily) log were;- CSArs Tu134s- OK-HFL+ OK-IFN + A310= OK-HAA (named praha). There was also polish(LOT) ATR 72= SP-LFD and landing 10 minutes behind us was AIRALGERIE 727 7T-VEV. The Airport has been in service for 56years and is the main Int.ernaEional Airport of the CzechRepublic, although time did noL permit, it has an outsideyigying deck which I know charged an entrance fee of 3p in1992! The Czech Airport Management that runs the the site isalso,responsible for the Airports at Brno-Turany, Karlovy Varyand 0strava-Mosnov. Altogether they employ around 13rOO0- peopiewith a reported average age of 39.5!!. Anyway luck was on ourside as the cloudless sky we were witnessing had folLowed twodays,of fog that had been bad enough to close the Airport andlead'to the cancellation of Transunrs Bristol and Londonday-trippers!. The queue to clear the serious stare of theImmigration official was slow, but it gives you time to use theAirside money exchange faciliLes (the Koruna cannot be taken inor ouL of the country!). We e/ere not sure what to expect in

The river Vltava spanned by ttre6O0_ years oLd Charles bridge separates the higher East siie,with the Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, from the shops andalleyways of the Old Town which lead you on to Wenceilassquare. The square is actually more like a very wide citystreet that gently rises up to a museum, you can now buy'aMcDonalds and Levirs, buL it has little in the line oft'ordinary" clothes shops. There is a lot to see AND even inAutumn a lot of people seeing iE. As 20.00 hrs came we had toIeave the street. enEertainers, horse drawn dray cartsr, stallsselling hats, jewellery and Iittle wooden Russian leaders, thethrong of people in the cobbled squares gazing up at the ornateAst.rologicaI clock and the splendour of [he ftoodlit cast.le,for 'Golf Lima' which ,"rs sa-t completely on its oun at onefrosty end of Ruzyne. Money.changLd bac[<, we then put our handIuggage (and wooden Gorbyrs) through an X-ray machine BEFORE wechecked-in. The Czech=Ogden Air ttandling boarding card issuedindicated seat= EREE which meant sit where you dld coming!! andaft,er clearing passport control it was straighE up to th;Cafe/Bar, seeing as rhe Duty Free st.aff had ilreaily disappeareddown town to the beer halls! (well it was Saturday-night!).Through t.he dark I could just make out a pair of Am 72s= 0K-XFA + 11p6, but it was getting late and the Budweisser bier (not.the American imitation) did not help. Just after 22.00 we werecalled to the pier but annoyingly hid to queue first at anotherI:."y_machine (with 'frame') and- then to access a gate lounge.Finally wha! were probably the only passengers 1ef[ at theairport, I'm sure I saw them turn ihl lighIs out!, eventuallyboarded and our Aircraft rolled away froi the standr( watchedby-our obligatory PoIice Skoda) and into the cold night to lifrolf at 22.35 (local). Something smelled good as rre slowed ourclimb and that someEhing was? ies- Fishr-Chips and Mushy peas -Airline style!!, hard to believe at firat bui tasty aII rhesame. We crossed into Germany after just 20 minutes, with a barand dut.y free service also oEfered to our happy but tiring daytrlppers The cruise at 35,000 took us back over Erankfurt-andBrussels wit.h t.he English coast reached at Clacton. We greetedNorwichrs tarmac at 13.02 and said goodbye to half of Aipro1055's load, some of which were new-found friends for a heshours. Wit.h our rdomestic' crew once more installed we trundledout to runway 09 for the fourth and last time, steeply climbingaway from Norfolk soil at 23.35. With few turns noted we musthave had a direct routeing to LBArs t32t which greeted us jusE25 minutes laEer. The only sad part was the newi from a meiberof the friendly cabin staff thal when IEA were absorbed 24hours later their jobs were to disappear.

We greetedNorwichrs tarmac at 13.02 and said goodbye to half of Aipro1055's load, some of which were new-found friends for a heshours. Wit.h our rdomestic' crew once more installed we trundledout to runway 09 for the fourth and last time, steeply climbingaway from Norfolk soil at 23.35. With few turns noted we musthave had a direct routeing to LBArs t32t which greeted us jusE25 minutes laEer. The only sad part was the newi from a meiberof the friendly cabin staff thal when IEA were absorbed 24hours later their jobs were to disappear.
