Quartermile is coming to life following the opening of its fi rst shops and cafés and the arrival of its fi rst residents.
Masterplanned by internationally recognised architects Foster + Partners, Quartermile is injecting new life and energy into the site of the city’s former Royal Infi rmary. Located within Edinburgh’s world heritage site and sitting adjacent to the Meadows, it stands a quarter of a mile from Edinburgh Castle, a quarter of a mile from the Royal Mile and measures a quarter of a mile from corner-to-corner.
Combining Edinburgh’s Victorian heritage with striking contemporary architecture, Quartermile incorporates new and refurbished apartments alongside world-class commercial, retail and leisure spaces.
Quartermile is scheduled for completion by 2013. By then, it will boast over 10,000 sq m of quality retail and leisure space, 30,000 sq m of premium offi ce space and 900 apartments.

In recent months, Quartermile has welcomed several blue-chip retail names including Sainsbury’s and Starbucks.
