CCSA July 2019 report
QHAWEKAZI PROGRAMME – NARRITIVE REPORT UMLALAZI AND MTHONJANENI MUNICIPALITY
31 JULY 2019
1. Introduction July was Nelson Mandela Month where the community engaged on 67 minutes in honour of our first democratic president. Cash plus care beneficiaries held various activities as part of their social projects. uMlalazi ward 13, hosted the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr David Mabuza and painted KwaMondi Tribal Court . The Deupty President was accompanied by the Minister of Health, UNAIDS Executive, KZN Premier, KCD Mayor and uMlalazi Local Mayor. The delegation also planted 4 fruit Tree in the young women’s garden. We acknowledge the support from CINDI network for securing resources for all the Mandela activities, without it we wouldn’t have been able to execute the task. Ward 26 CPC beneficiary reported sexual abuse and she opened a case at Eshowe Police station, the accused has applied for bail. We mobilized young women and the community to join us to stand outside the court to fight against the bail application as the victim did not feel safe. Judgement for the bail was postponed twice, decision to be delivered in August 2019. Psycho-social support is being provided to the beneficiary. We further acknowledge the visit by CINDI CEO & Project Manager to the victim household, it gave her strength and hope. Cash Plus Care sessions are in progress. Attendance has increased from June, however there is a need to improve due to tight project deadlines.
