THERMAL COMFORT The Psychrometric chart shows the standard indoor comfort zone in yellow. Each month’s temperature and humidity is shown with black lines. Selected strategies, shown as colored areas, extend the comfort zone without mechanical heating or cooling.Exposed mass and night purge ventilation, evaporative cooling, passive solar heating, and natural ventilation look like the most effective strategies from this chart. If these strategies are be implemented successfully, the building may be able to operate for up to eight months of the year without significant heating or cooling costs, and with reduced mechanical cooling costs for the rest of the year.
