Sylvia Koscina 1975 Arthur Godfrey SAD FAN -I was sad- dened by the death of radio and TV star Arthur Godfrey. I recall he had once had cancer. Was this the cause of death? In addition, can you tell me If he had any children and what was the name of his popular TV show tn the late 40s and 50s? The "old redhead" died on March 16 of pneumonia and emphysema after a short hospitalization. The 79-year-old Godfrey was married to Mary Burke for 45 years and they had two sons and a daughter. Dur- ing the height of his popularity, Godfrey actually had two prime- time shows on CBS at the same time One was "Arthur Godfrey and Friends" (remembered for the famous firings of Julius LaRosa and much of the rest of the cast) and the other was "Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts " Each ran for 10 years. JUNCTION QUERY - Please tell me the names of the actresses who played Btllie Jo, Bobby Jo and Betty Jo on "Petticoat Junction"? My husband believes the blonde was Meredith Baxter Blrney. Billie Jo, otherwise known in Hooterville as the blond daughter of Kate Bradley (Bea Benaderet) was played by three actresses-Jeannine Riley ('63-'65>. Gunilla Hutton C65-'68), and Meredith McRae ('66-701. who your husband is probably con- fusing with Miss Baxter Birney. Miss Riley and Miss Hutton became regu- lars on "Hee Haw" after leaving the Junction. As for Bobbie Jo and Betty Jo. the first was played by Pat Woodell C63-'65> and Lori Saunders ('65-70). and the second was played by Linda Kaye. who was with the show for its full seven-year run. YEA OR NAY-Can you tell me if the lady who played Felicia on the March 11 episode of "Re- mington Steele" Is really Pierce Brosnan's wife? Also, where can I write him? Actress Cassandra Harris is indeed Brosnan's missus. They have two children, Christopher and Charlotte. "Steele" is another series from MTM Enterprises, so you write there at 4024 Radford Ave . Studio City. CA. 91604. SHE'S RIGHT Please help me to prove to several guys that this girl isn't as crMMnsi they think she is. Araslwrect in saying that Margot Kidder Of "Superman" did not star as Indy's girlfriend in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Also, didn't the actress from "Raiders" have a part in "Animal House?" OK, guys, she may be a crazy kinda gal, but she's right this time Karen Allen, who admittedly looks and speaks very much like Miss Kidder, played Marion Ravenwood, Nepal's prettist barkeep She was also in "Animal House," where she engaged in extracurricular studies with the professor played by Donald Sutherland. Even John Marriott, her keeper of the stamps, doesn't know how many stamps are in the royal collection. But there's sad flewr-lbr" Other collectors. <"Itrte* queen won't swap," is the way Connoisseur magazine quotes a top British philatelist She does lend, though — to the Royal Philatelic Society every September. British monarchs appear on many stamps, but a New Brunswick 1860 five-cent stamp in the queen's col- lection does not display the head of Queen Victoria. Instead it depicts the pro- vince's postmaster- general, Charles Connell. Queen Victoria was not amused. Connell probably wasn't either — he was fired. WHY CLEVELAND: Willie Nelson rides across the silver screen again, this time in a 4 3 /i-minute mini-movie based on his and Merle Haggard's hit single "Poncho and Lefty." Country-music listeners have been trying to figure out the mysterious tale, in which the bandit Poncho is killed in the Mexican des- ert and his running mate. Lefty, winds up in Cleve- land. Why Cleveland? A total of 48 movie houses in Nashville, Dallas, Seattle and Houston are airing the film before the main feature. Nelson's daughter, Lana, wrote the sceenplay, which stars Nelson as Poncho and Haggard as Lefty. The song's writer, Townes Van Zandt, also appears in the (lick as a Mexican federate. QUOTE OF THE DAY: Cynthia Syfces plays Dr. Annie Cavanero on NBC's "St. Elsewhere" and she is just as nettled by double standards and sexism as the character she portrays. She said, "It exists outside the show. Most people Say, 'Oh, you're on the health show. Are you a nurse?' They assume women are nurses ... until I tell them, 'No, doctor. Doctor!' They're always very sur- prised especially in the male-dominated medical world. Women are Just now going into those areas being surgeons - but It is changing because younger doctors are coming In." Arthur Godfrey SAD FAN -I was sad

dened by the death of radio and TV star Arthur Godfrey.

During the height of his p o p u l a r i t y , G o d f r e y actually had two prime-time shows on CBS at the s a m e time One was "Arthur Godfrey and Friends" (remembered for the famous firings of Julius LaRosa and much of the rest of the cast) and the o t h e r w a s " A r t h u r Godfrey's Talent Scouts " Each ran for 10 years.

JUNCTION QUERY -Please tell me the names of the actresses who played Btllie Jo, Bobby Jo and Betty Jo on "Petticoat Junction"? My husband believes the blonde was Meredith Baxter Blrney.

Bi l l ie Jo, otherwise known in Hooterville as the blond daughter of Kate Bradley (Bea Benaderet) w a s played by three actresses-Jeannine Riley

('63-'65>. Gunilla Hutton C65-'68), and Meredith McRae ('66-701. who your husband is probably confusing with Miss Baxter Birney. Miss Riley and Miss Hutton became regulars on "Hee Haw" after leaving the Junction. As for Bobbie Jo and Betty Jo. the first was played by Pat Woodell C63-'65> and Lori Saunders ('65-70). and the second was played by Linda Kaye. who was with the show for its full seven-year run.

YEA OR NAY-Can you tell me if the lady who played Felicia on the March 11 episode of "Remington Steele" Is really Pierce Brosnan's wife? Also, where can I write him?

A c t r e s s C a s s a n d r a Harris is indeed Brosnan's missus.

Aras lwrec t in saying that M a r g o t K i d d e r Of "Superman" did not star as Indy's girlfriend in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Also, didn't the actress from "Raiders" have a part in "Animal House?"

OK, guys, she may be a crazy kinda gal, but she's right this time Karen Allen, who admittedly looks and speaks very much like Miss Kidder, played Marion Ravenwood, Nepal's prettist barkeep She was also in "Animal H o u s e , " w h e r e s h e engaged in extracurricular studies with the professor p l a y e d by D o n a l d Sutherland.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth owns the finest stamp collection in the world. British monarchs appear on many s t a m p s , but a N e w Brunswick 1860 five-cent stamp in the queen's collection does not display the head of Queen Victoria. Instead it depicts the pro-v i n c e ' s p o s t m a s t e r -general, Charles Connell. Queen Victoria was not amused. Connell probably wasn't either — he was fired.

WHY CLEVELAND: Willie Nelson rides across the silver screen again, this time in a 43/i-minute mini-movie based on his and Merle Haggard's hit single "Poncho and Lefty." Country-music listeners have been trying to figure out the mysterious tale, in which the bandit Poncho is killed in the Mexican desert and his running mate. Lefty, winds up in Cleveland.

Doctor! ' They're always very surprised — especially in the male-dominated medical world. Women are Just now going into those areas — being surgeons - but It is changing because younger doctors are coming In."
