Message froM PV Manager,Merry Sinacore

Hi everyone Welcome to the 1st Board of Directors meeting for the Season of 2018-2019. We have been working all through the summer getting PV ready for the season. We have add-ed some things and improved some others. The office was redone, and I would like to thank Frank and Tom for a great job and listening to me without a great deal of arguments. It was very interesting Marylou and I got close. We had a new fence installed on Quince. New front gate signs. They are a different color and they will improve our look. They should be installed before the end of the month. We had new Lift Station pumps installed in the RV lift station. We need to be very careful of what we put in our toilets. We want everyone to please not put anything such as wipes and swiffer’s down the toilets. The dead pines trees along Quince were cut down. This is the last of any trees that would endanger any homes. We all need to watch for any storms coming our way. So please make sure you and your home are secured.

Message from FMO Rep, Paul Boyer

The picture on the front of the August FMO News depicts the original committee of the five men who drafted the Declaration of Independence. The authorization, appoint-ing and work of committees runs through the fabric of our society. FMO is no different. Our committees are the driving force behind implementation of our growth plan. Please consider volunteering your special gifts towards this effort. FMO was instrumental in the writing and passage of FS 723 which permitted the formation of Homeowners Associations and their five member committee. The 21st century FMO is moving beyond the protections FS 723 provides and partnering with other advocacy groups to further protect our rights. These include tax watchdogs, consumer and insurance advocates.

Jerry Durham, FMO President

The Federation of Manufactured Home Owners (FMO) is expanding its reach through partnerships with state and national organizations. Russ Watson, Director at Large recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with The National Manufactured Home Owners Association (NM-HOA). We joined it’s partner, the Consumer Federation of America, (CFA) in attending “Lobby Day”. This is a day where concerned representatives from organizations all over the country come together to lobby congressman and senators from their respective states. The 21st century FMO is exploring all options to expand the sphere of our influ-ence to better serve our members. We discussed national issues of interest to FMO members and ways to partner in achieving common objectives.

Shuffleboard by Barbara Dearing

Shuffleboard season is coming up soon. The season starts the first week of November and ends the last week of February, and we play on Mondays at 1:00 pm. We compete against four other mobile home parks and meet other women and have a great time. This past season we had more ladies playing for PV than we have ever had. A lot of the ladies had never played shuf-fleboard before, and they picked the game up very quickly, so do not be hesitant to join us based on experience. This season will be exciting since we will have our new roofs which cover all ten courts, unlike in the past where they only covered five. If you would like to give it a try or be a substitute player, please call Barbara Dearing at 765-606-1510 or 941-242-1055.

Pickle Ball If anyone is interested in playing Friday, October 20th come up @ 4:00 pm.

Meet Your Neighbor JOHN & JOAN TiGUE

by Ted Ormiston (no photo available)

John was born in Willoughby, Ohio and that small town about 20 miles northeast of Cleveland has continued to hold him close all these years later.  Joan was born in Cleve-land. They met at a bar/dance club and the dancing became permanent when they were wed in 1968 and they will be celebrating their 50th in June. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of a daughter who continued the blessings with two granddaughters. John earned his bachelor’s degree from John Carroll Uni-versity in social sciences and his masters from Kent State in public administration. Joan acquired her bookkeeping and accounting skills at a local community college and they both utilized their educations in many varied posi-tions in the years to come.  Joan has traveled the business road working for Huey Enterprises, Basic Office Supply, Val Pac Coupons and Sheffield Bronze.  John started out teaching in 1965 but in 1970 the city of Willoughby hired him as their recreation director.  This position morphed to deputy finance director in 1972 then in 1974 he became the city’s full time clerk of council.  Then a company called CT Consultants hired John to be their operations manageroverseeing company functions over a 5 state area.  Joan retired in 2001 but still puts in 20-25 hours a week as a volunteer treasurer for the Cleveland area Irish-American Club and is also active with the Loyal Order of Moose on Anna Maria Island while her and John spend the winter in Florida.  While John is semi-retired he still works on his phone and computer more hours a week than many people who certainly don’t consider themselves retired! Both John and Joan enjoy reading.  John is active in the Lion’s Club and the Catholic Church and enjoys a round of golf every once in a while. John and Joan enjoy an occasion-al meal at the The Bridge Tender-Inn on Anna Maria Island and during a visit from their two granddaughters who were 4 and 6 at the time they got to witness a memorable event. The girls asked the band to play the song from the kid’s movie Frozen. Alas, the band didn’t know the words but with the band finally playing the music the two girls made their stage debuts singing the words themselves and warming Grandma and Grampa’s hearts. John and Joan Tigue became snow-bird residents of Plantation Village in 2008 and our community is glad to have them.

Hello, DOLLS! by Jill Schein

The summer series of the Dining Out Lovely Ladies has come to an end. A fantastic group of ladies toured the culi-nary world of the area and so enjoyed it. We ate great food while bonding and finding new friends and some that we already knew. We had Italian, Irish, Thai, Greek, Indian, Span-ish and more. We shared ideas, interests, poems, puzzles, games, and laughter. Most evenings we even all left with a little parting gift of flowers, candy, cookies, scratch offs or raffle prizes. The ladies of PV are kind, loving, accepting, and such personable people. I know I had a blast dining out with them and look forward to seeing them around the park. As for the snowbird season…we’ll see what will be… Until our next meal…happy eating.
