It is my feeling that cosmetics are an intimate bond between our senses and sensuality because beauty care is a highly developed form of art.

The enveloping fragrance of essential oils, the soft-ness of creams and lotions that cover the skin like silk and the gentle massage effects when applying them is as important to me as the classic aspects of skin care, such as prevention of premature lines.

Through this sensual experience, we open up. Our muscles, the tissue and the cells relax and we expe-rience a sense of well-being. Energy blockages are released and we radiate vitality. We feel beautiful – we are beautiful!

Wisdom is gained by letting go the non-essential(Lao-tzu, 604 B.C.)

The philosophical insight that less is more guides the way I manufacture my natural cosmetics products. My products contain only those ingredients that are necessary and complement each other. Every ingre-dient is a precious active ingredient for the skin. This creates that special, magical essence that exceeds the sum of its individual components.

The word cosmetics is derived from the Greek word KOSMOS which means world order or order of nature. Cosmetics are the art of maintaining and encouraging the body’s natural order and thus its harmony, i.e. its beauty.

The oldest known cosmetic recipes originated in ancient Egypt. They prove that it is possible to manuf-acture magnificent creams and ointments using only pure, natural ingredients. Synthetic preservati-ves, emulsifiers, stabilizers and fra-grances were not known and not necessary back then.

Beeswax and wool wax are excel-lent nourishing bases for ointments. They are natural emulsifiers that smooth the skin and make it elastic and soft. Real essential oils, propo-lis and rose water inhibit bacterial growth and therefore act as mild preservatives.

The ancient Egyptians as well as nati-ve peoples around the world had a vast knowledge about the quality of time and how it influences the production of healing remedies and cosmetics. In ancient times, the pro-duction of skin care products was in the hands of medicine men and healers. They observed the rhythm of the stars and the moon and dis-covered that plant extracts prepa-red at certain times had significantly greater healing powers. Even today,

the indigenous people of Central America still produce essential oils and ointments according to cosmic laws. This ancient knowledge has been rediscovered by modern bio-dynamic cultivation practices and by spagyric preparation methods.

Modern chemistry has changed much – but for the better? The modern cosmetics industry has succumbed to chemical bases and mineral oils that are easy to handle, have a long shelf life and give cre-ams a “brilliantly white” color. As a result, the cases of allergies and skin ailments is ever growing.

We do not want to go down this path! Through our products we try to integrate back into the natural order. The quality of skin care pro-ducts is determined by the fresh-ness of the raw ingredients and the manufacturing methods used. We use fresh herbs and oils for our high-quality skin care products. 98% of our raw ingredients are mostly from Demeter contract cultivation or cer-tified organic cultivation.

THESE SYMBOLS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

The international organic products brand Demeter is represented on every continent. From Argentina to Hungary, over 3,500 facilities farm approx. 100,000 hectares of land in 38 countries in accordance with the strict biodynamic Demeter guide-lines. Worldwide sales of Demeter products are estimated at 220 mil-lion euros. This association concentrates on people and their needs while bea-ring the ecological, economic and social responsibility in mind. Fair prices and social commitment are important issues for the Demeter association.

Demeter is not only about farming in harmony with nature but also with the entire cosmos. The course of the stars, the sun and the moon are taken into account during planting, harvest and production. Paracelsus, Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, as well as Rudolf Steiner researched this in various forms and showed us how we can utilize these energetic pha-ses. Regarding biodynamic farming, the effectiveness of this approach has been confirmed by long term scientific research work (DOK test, i.e. comparison between Demeter, certified organic and conventional).

The Demeter guidelines for natural

cosmetics dictate that at least 90% of the ingredients must be products of certified Demeter farming. The remaining 10% may also be from certified organic farming. The emul-sifiers must be natural and as unpro-cessed as possible. Salts, water and minerals are not assessed. Products that contain between 66% and 90% Demeter-certified raw materials are labelled as such. GMOs (genetically manipulated organisms) and nano-technology are not allowed. Martina Gebhardt is convinced that the key to harmony and health lies in a holistic way of seeing things. „No one really knows how energe-tic processes are transferred to our body and skin, how they influence us. There is no doubt that we can learn from old cultures in which body, soul and spirit were still con-sidered as a whole.” For over 30 years now, my natural cosmetics have been 100% organic on the basis of my conviction that this is the right thing to do. I now want to take a further, consequential step in this direction: Expand “organic” to include the holistic aspect of the rhythms and dynamics of nature, as is done in biodynamic farming.

The guidelines of the German Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Bonn and the IHTN (International Manufactory Association against Animal Testing in Cosmetics).

Issue of a legally binding statement that:

• No animal experiments are realized for the development and the produc-tion of the final product.

• No raw materials are processed which were tested on animals after 01.01.1979. The decisive point is that the substances were available on the market before 01.01.1979 – no matter if they were subject to animal experi-ments before that date. Substances which entered the market after that date may not have been subject to animal experiments. On the other hand neither we nor the producers listed in the positive list are able to prevent that a synthetic substances which was already on the market before 01.01.1979 or that another natural or eatable substance has been or will be tested on animals by

third parties after the appointed date of 01.01.1979. As far as the producers in the positive list do not maintain any relationship with the respective company they are allowed to use the respective substance further on.

• No raw materials will be used where the extraction is connected with cru-elty to animals or where animals will be killed for that specific purpose (e.g. musk, mink essence, cochineal).

• There is no economic dependency from other companies which realize animal experiments or place order for such experiments (e.g. phar-maceutical industry).

All cosmetic products should be applied sparingly so that they sup-port the skin’s own functions rather than inhibiting them. The creams with an ideal pH value of 6 to 7 support the skin in preserving its natural protective barrier.

There are no cosmetic products that can completely prevent the natural aging process of the skin. However, nature is abundant with plant oils and herbs that maintain the skin’s elasti-city and vitality, giving it a healthy appearance. No chemical synthetic imitations can nurture and protect the skin as nature can.

Simply try the products that you like, that you have an “appetite” for. Surely, you do not feel like eating carrots every day, do you? The same goes for your skin. It doesn’t make sense to apply the same substances to the skin because the body and the skin will soon be saturated. We do suggest certain products for different skin ty-pes. However, we also recommend that you trust your sense of smell and your instincts because the herbs in the products will attract you through their scents. If a certain scent is pleasant to you, you will also take on the ingredi-ents (the affinity principle).

In the mornings, it is sufficient to cle-an the skin with water only unless you applied a very oily cream the night before. In that case, you should use the appropriate cleanser for your skin type. After rinsing, a facial tonic refres-hes and revitalizes the skin. Apply the tonic by patting it on to stimulate the skin’s circulation. Massage a little bit of cream into the still damp skin.

In the evenings, the cleanser is usually all you need. Thoroughly massage the cleanser into the skin and rinse it off with lukewarm water. It is nourishing enough to protect the skin overnight. The skin is supposed to be able to “breathe” overnight: This means that perspiration and waste products can reach the surface of the skin without obstruction. If you prefer a somewhat richer skin care for the night, we re-commend using either the face lotion or the cream for your skin type.

In the summer, we recommend using the face lotions. For the winter months, we recommend the creams. The face lotions are a perfect make-up base. All creams can be combined with all other products.

Our products are formulated to support the skin’s natural func-tions. This way your skin will remain healthy and find its way back to a natural balance.

Our creams contain about 50% moisture, e.g. herbal extracts made with pure spring water, and 50% oily substances, e.g. plant oils, fats and waxes. This corresponds to the com-position of the hydro-lipid layer (the skin‘s lipid-moisture ratio)of the skin of a 20-year-old woman. Nourishing this skin layer helps support the vita-lity, health and smoothness of your skin. Skin care that nourishes the skin solely with moisture or solely with oils impairs the natural balance of the skin making it increasingly dry. You can adjust the consistency of the

skin care emulsion to your individual needs. If you feel like “thinning” the skin cream, simply mix a little cream with a little bit of the corresponding lotion in the palm of your hand be-fore applying this mixture to your skin. We use pure spring water enriched with salts (gold, silver) as well as sulfur which can found in traces in our spagyric essences. Read more on Spagyrics here or on our website.

The word Spagyrics comes from the Greek word spao = separate and ageiro = bring together. It describes a method of making medicinal reme-dies that has been known for several thousand years and has its roots in the Orient and Himalayan cultures. This extraction method is still used in ayurvedic medicine today. The components of the plant are both di-stilled and burnt to ash, or calcined.

The salts in the plants are dissolved and crystallized out in a complex biodynamic and rhythmic produc-tion process that takes the positions of sun and moon into consideration. This is done until the required de-gree of purity is reached. Then it is combined with the distillate to make the spagyric essence.

How do the spagyric essence work in cosmetics?

The effects of these essences are observed at the cellular-energetic level. The saying goes: “Salt is the memory of the earth”. There is a great deal of truth to this, seeing as how salt can awaken the inner order and memory of every cell in the (ge-netic) plan upon which it is based. Salt dissolved in water (brine), as it occurs in the intracellular and extra-cellular spaces, possesses an electri-cal conductivity that imparts energy impulses to the cells. This stimulates a cleaning process. Only when the detoxing process at the cellular level has taken place, the cell can take on the substances necessary for its regeneration and thus regain its na-tural balance.
