A tapestry of colors, formations and races, the ladies and gentlemen of SPB rest firmly at the pinnacle of South East Asian Bhangra. After winning the Singapore Khalsa Association Bhangra Idol in 2007, SPB sent two teams, each with its own defining style, to the Regional Bhangra Competition in 2008. Coming in just behind India, both SPB teams produced stellar performances to place second and third in the Asia Pacific region, beating teams from Malaysia, Australia and Singapore. Built with faith in the one God, trust in each other and love in their hearts, SPB is dedicated to an unparalleled level of Arvinder Singh Raina Composer and music director, Arvinder is music graduate of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi, who had trained under both Indu Mudhgal and Mahdup Mudhgal. In 1994, he had won the Grand Prize for Live Vocal Performance at the All-Incal Persic Competition (Ghazal Category). He had also received special training from Suresh Wadkar in 1994 and was under the tutelage of the Late Pandit Vinod Mudhgal. In 1996, he joined the Guru Sishya Parampara of intensive vocal study under Pandit Dayal Thakur and gazhal singing under Bhure Khan. Arvinder taught music at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya after his graduation. He was later attached to Sri Dasmesh School in Kuala Lumpur as resident music teacher and composer teaching classical vocal, harmonium, bhajan, dharmeek geet and shabad gurbani. In 2005, he produced a Hindi album with veteran local artiste DJ Dave and is the first Indian music director to do so in this region. In 2008, Arvinderji and Narinder Kaur KEERAN D MALAYSIAN DHOL FEDERATION (MDF) Keeran D is a household name when it comes to Dhol Drumming in Malaysia. Having founded Malaysian Dhol Federation in 1996, he had brought Dhol playing to a whole new platform vibrating the region with his Dhol beats. The idea of combining traditional Dhol beats with modern music was brought forward by Keeran D which became a hit overnight among music producers and composers. Coming from a humble simple background, Keeran D had been featured in both local and foreign media. In 2004 and 2005, MDF was featured in radios and television channels namely TV3, NTV7, Zee-TV, RED104.9, ASTRO and etc. The biggest achievement was when MDF represented Dhol Drumming in the Rain Forest World Music Festival in 2006 which brought much fame and recognition. The list of achievements continue to grow throughout the years under the leadership of Keeran D. MDF was also involved in the recently launched album GOLDKARTZ in 2008, which is SUNEEL K SINGAPORE DHOL FEDERATION (SDF) An extension from MDF, SDF was founded in 2007 by Suneel K who originates from the same home town with Keeran D. It had been 2 years since SDF opened the floodgates on a wondrous torrent of intense percussive grooves in Singapore. Using the distinctive sounds of the DHOL drum, SDF harnesses the incredible rhythms of the Punjab, unleashing a killer brand of bhangra-infused rhythms. As avid disciples of the DHOL drums, they play their own brand of Bhangra rhythms fused with world music, funk, afrobeat, local ethnic rhythms and whatever sounds these urban jungle dwellers devour and regurgitate. Arvinder Singh Raina
