Why Learn CPR?“Cardiac arrests are more common than you think, and they can happen to anyone at any time”.

“Nearly 383,000 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrests occur annually, and 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur at home”.

“Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack”.

“Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when electrical impulses in the heart become rapid or chaotic, which causes the heart to suddenly stop beating”.

“A heart attack occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart muscle is blocked. A heart attack may cause cardiac arrest”.

“The life you save with CPR is mostly likely to be a loved on”.

Why Take Action?• Failure to act in a cardiac emergency can lead to unnecessary deaths.

• Effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, but only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander.

• Sadly, less than eight percent of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital survive.

• The American Heart Association trains more than 12 million people in CPR annually, to equip Americans with the skills they need to perform bystander CPR.

Pulse Point App

• Pulse Point App is a free app that volunteers can download from the Google Store or Apple i-phone store.

• It helps create a network between the local fire department or EMS ambulance service of first responders to those who are in need of CPR.

• Once an agency approves and develops an agreement with Pulse Point Organization, the local emergency service agency can send the responding medics and also alert the nearest CPR volunteer that is close to the emergency scene.

• As soon as the volunteer CPR responders receive the information on their smart phone or i-phone with information as to what emergency unit is responding, a map of the area, address and where the closet AED is located in that building if there is one.

• CPR volunteers can start life saving efforts that will increase the survival rate of those having a heart attack. Once the EMT’s arrive, the CPR volunteers will turn the call to the responding professionals.

ConclusionPublic officials that have created a public-private partnership in the use of Pulse Point Program App has increase the survival rate of heart attack victims in their local communities. With reduce public budgets or reduce local services, the need for innovation is needed to create support from our local communities to enhance local emergency response services. The volunteer CPR responders is not a replacement for professional help, but additional help to continue life saving measures until the local fire department or local ambulance service can arrive.Local communities should ask their local elected officials why Pulse Point Apps and emergency networking is not being used in their local community?
