Introduction• Pulmonary vascular abnormalities and cardiac
afections are frecvently present at patients with respiratory affections like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, affections of the neuro-muscular system or thoracic wall, hypoventilation syndrome in obesity.
• If pulmonary heart disease is present it suggests a bad prognosis and increased risk of death
• Systemic manifestations of pulmonary affections often increase the risk of cardiac death.
Materials and methods
• We effectuated a statistical study of sudden death cases with pleuro-pulmonar affections associated with cardiovascular affections in the causitry of the Forensic Medicine Institute of Târgu Mureş in the 2008-2010 period.
2008
• The most frecvent pulmonary affections:– pulmonary edema (35 cases) – pulmonary stasis (17 cases).
2008
• The most frecvent cardiovascular affections:– pulmonary edema: • coronarosclerosis (68,57%) • miocardosclerosis (51,42%)
– pulmonary stasis: • coronarosclerosis (64,70%)• miocardosclerosis (58,82%)
2009
• The most frecvent pulmonary affections:– pulmonary edema (120 cases)– pulmonary stasis (67 cases)
2009
• The most frecvent cardiovascular affections: – pulmonary edema: • coronarosclerosis (68,33%) • miocardosclerosis (50,83%)
– pulmonary stasis:• coronarosclerosis (67,16% )• cardiomegaly (56,71%)
2010
• The most frecvent pulmonary affections:– the pulmonary edema (79 cases) – pulmonary stasis (51 cases)
• The most frecvent cardiovascular affections:– pulmonary edema:• coronarosclerosis (74,68%)• miocardosclerosis (59,49%)
– pulmonary stasis:• coronarosclerosis (78,43%)• miocardosclerosis (58,82%)
Discussion and conclusion
• The most frecvent pulmonary affections in this period were pulmonary edema and pulmonary stasis.
• In 2008 both pulmonary edema and pulmonary stasis were associated with coronarosclerosis in more than 60% of the cases and with miocardosclerosis in more than 50% of the cases.
• In 2009 the leading pulmonary affections were also the pulmonary edema and pulmonary stasis.
• The pulmonary edema was associated with coronarosclerosis in more than 60% of the cases and with miocardosclerosis in 50% of the cases.
• The pulmonary stasis was associated with coronarosclerosis like the pulmonary edema, in more than 60% of the cases and with cardiomegaly in more than 50% of the cases.
• In 2010 the most frecvent pulmonary affections were also the pulmonary edema and pulmonary stasis.
• These pulmonary affections were associated with coronarosclerosis in more than 70% of the cases and with miocardosclerosis in almost 60% of the cases.
