z A 4th of July to Remember zWe had a fantastic 4th of July Celebration in Greenwood Forest!
Unlike last year, the weather cooperated and provided us a beautiful day for the parade & party at the pool.
It was a heartwarming sight to see
such a terrific turnout of Green-
wood residents with their fam-
ily and friends lining both sides
of the Champion Forest Drive
parade route.
The efforts of many people went
into making this holiday event a
success and a special thanks goes
out to all of them.
Kinsmen Lutheran Church
and Lynnae Schatz, Kinsmen
Director, for graciously loan-
ing their parking lot as well as
participating in the parade.
Chief Dan Shelor and ESD
29 (Champions Fire Dept.) for
leading the parade with their
ladder and pumper trucks as
well as the loan of their small-
er utility truck to pull Green-
wood’s 50th Anniversary float.

Wear loose, lightweight, light-
colored clothing.
Wear sunscreen. Sunburn
affects your body’s ability
to cool down and can make
you dehydrated. Look for
sunscreens that say “broad
spectrum” or “UVA/UVB
protection” on their labels;
these products work best.
Stay in air-conditioned
buildings as much as possible.
Do not rely on a fan as your primary cooling
device during an extreme heat event.
Drink plenty of water and don’t wait until
you’re thirsty.
Check on friends or neighbors who may need
assistance.
Know the signs of heat related emergencies and
call 9-1-1:
- Muscle Cramps
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Vomiting
Never leave infants, children or pets in
a parked car.
Visit cdc.gov/extremeheat for more hot weather tips.

UPDATE ON CLUBHOUSE POOL
On June 26th, the Harris County Department of
Health made an inspection of our pool and baby pool
under new regulations. This type of inspection has
never before occurred and no announcement of the
new regulations was distributed to any of the affected
pools in Harris County.
As a result of that inspection, the baby pool was
closed for various deficiencies including signage.
Your HOA Board is in the process of making all
the changes required by these new regulations and
are in hopes that the appropriate inspectors will be
available to conduct a re-inspection to reopen the
baby pool soon.
One of the issues brought to our attention was the
gate latch from the parking lot to the pool. The
gate has been replaced with one that opens out to
the parking lot with a new latch at the appropriate
height. This gate must remain closed at all times but
is unlocked when the pool is open for residents and
their guests.
HOMEOWNER CONCERNS
Your HOA board has been informed by a number
of homeowners about their concerns regarding
several houses in our subdivision. The board has
received guidance from our attorney on how we
should proceed and is in the process of doing all that
they can under both our deed restrictions and state
legislation and will continue to work on these issues as
quickly as possible.
The HOA Board urges all residents to contact our
Deed Restrictions office at (281) 444-3522, ext. 5 to
report any concerns. If the problem is due to noise or
nuisance issues, please instead contact the Precinct 4
Constables at (281) 376-3472 to report the problem
so that there will be a formal record that we can
act upon.

7 ESSENTIAL TRAVEL SAFETY TIPS
Travel can be an exciting, eye-opening experience. It’s easy to get caught up in the thrill of adventure. But don’t forget about travel security and safety considerations while you’re abroad. Follow these 7 travel safety tips to help you take a trip that’s memorable for all the right reasons.
1. Do your research
Get to know your destination in depth before you arrive.
Read traveler reviews and consult with locals for infor-
mation about the safest neighborhoods, places to stay
and incidences of crime. Also know whom to call in an
emergency.
People who look like they’re from out of town are espe-
cially vulnerable to crime, so try to blend in as much as
you can. Choose inconspicuous clothing that won’t attract
attention. Be discreet when looking at maps and approach
people carefully if you need to ask for directions.
3. Make copies of important documents
You never know when you might need a copy of your
passport, driver’s license or another form of identifica-
tion. Scan these documents to save online and print out
several hard copies. That way, you won’t be scrambling
to find proper documentation if you need to get home.
4. Keep your friends and family updated
No matter whether you’re going, on an overnight jaunt
or a month-long international journey, it’s always a
good idea to let friends or family back home know.
Before you leave, send a copy of your itinerary to a few
trusted people who can keep tabs on your whereabouts.
Check in regularly with your contacts so they know
you’re where you’re supposed to be.
5. Be wary of public Wi-Fi
Don’t let the convenience of Internet access cloud your
judgment. When you use public Wi-Fi, hackers look-
ing to steal valuable information can access your data
including credit card or Social Security numbers.
6. Safeguard your hotel room
Even if your hotel has strong security measures in place,
there are steps you can take to make your room safer.
Lock and dead bolt the door and keep your windows shut.
Try to give the impression that you’re in your room
even when you’re away, such as placing the Do Not
Disturb sign on the outside of your door and keeping
the blinds or windows closed.
7. Be aware of your surroundings
Don’t let your guard down to snap the perfect picture
for your social media platforms. Keep an eye on your
personal belongings at all times and use good judgment
when talking to strangers. But if someone near you is
acting suspiciously, or if you feel uncomfortable, leave
the area immediately.

CYPRESS-TOMBALL DEMOCRATS AUGUST SPEAKER IS REPRESENTATIVE JON ROSENTHAL
The Cypress-Tomball Democrats will hold its next
monthly metting on Tuesday, August 20 at Rudy’s
Grill and Cantina, 11760 Grant Road in Cypress.
There is a meet and greet at 6:30 pm, and the general
meeting begins at 7:00 pm.
August’s guest speaker will be Representative Jon
Rosenthal. Representative Rosenthal has been a
strong fighter, advocate and champion for better
public schools, healthcare and ensuring we have
comprehensive criminal justice reform across the
State of Texas. Grateful and fortunate enough to be
elected by the great constituents of House District 135
(Northwest Houston - Cypress and Jersey Village), Jon
continues his fight in the state legislature to advocate
for these issues amongst other needs. He brought a
unique background to the chamber as being only one
of two practicing engineers in the Texas State House
of Representatives and the only mechanical engineer
serving in the body.
As a new member to the 86th Legislative session,
Representative Rosenthal served on the County Affairs
and Energy Resources Committees. Representative
Rosenthal will speak on his experiences in the legisla-
ture and give tips on electing more democrats in Texas.
All are welcome to attend and to join this grow-
ing club, which meets on the third Tuesday of ev-
ery month.
