Your Cooperative and Employees Earn No Lost Time Award

Pictured above is the “No Lost Time Accident Award” which T.I.P. Rural Electric Cooperative and its employees received for promoting a safe working environment and not having a “Lost Time” accident for the past three years. In appreciation for their efforts, employees were given gift cards during a recent safety meeting. Each year our insurance carrier, Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange, recognizes its member systems with a “No Lost Time Award” for those that have accrued at least 5,000 work hours per employee without any lost time accidents. Your cooperative and its employees received the outstanding achievement of an accident-free record of 152,269 hours since April 2016. Systems that have a good safety program not only protect their employees and the community, but also save on insurance, avoid fines, and add dollars directly to their bottom line.

Meeting with Representatives from Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel

Back row left to right: Merle Bear, Facilities Maintenance Manager, Jeff Kajer, Facility Director, Ty Davenport, Assistant Facility Director, Paul Erickson, CIPCO Manager of Commercial Energy Solutions, and Cole Calkins, Staking Technician/Member Service.

T.I.P. management met with representatives from Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel and discussed rates, load and future load management, generation backup and applying for an energy efficiency LED lighting rebate. Meeting with the Meskwaki Bingo Casino representatives gives T.I.P. the opportunity to ensure that we are serving them efficiently. The Meskwaki Bingo Casino is owned and operated by the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa, also known as the Meskwaki Nation. They are the only federally recognized tribe in the State of Iowa. Meskwaki Bingo and Casino began operations on December 31, 1992, and will soon reach their 27th anniversary, an incredible milestone for their business. The passing of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act in 1988 opened the door for the tribe to establish a gaming enterprise. What originally started out as a bingo hall housed in the community gymnasium, over time, has

become one of the largest gaming facilities in the region, a premier destination for hospitality, entertainment, and gaming in Iowa and beyond. They provide top notch hospitality and unmatched entertainment for everyone that visits their facility. As the Iowa gaming industry has grown and become more competitive, so too, has Meskwaki. It is their goal to continue to meet and exceed their guest’s expectations, to go above and beyond with their offerings, whether that be a pleasant stay in their hotel or a nice, quality meal in one of their several food venues. They’ve got something for everybody and are always looking to provide even more entertainment options for their guests. Meskwaki is more than a business, more than a casino. They are part of the community. They want to share their greatest appreciation and thanks to T.I.P. REC as well as the many other local and regional business partners they’ve had throughout their history. The casino has come a long way and the success of their business would not have been possible without the positive relationships they’ve established with everyone. T.I.P. appreciates the opportunity to serve the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel.
