INTRODUCTION• Being judged before you say a word• Never understood, just misjudged• If it is not alright in Human interaction, why is it alright

when discussing serious topics?• How are these problems for us?

PUBLIC PERCEPTION IN RELATION TO THE ISSUES

Page 4: Public perception

NUCLEAR ENERGY• Developing countries are being rogue and rejecting the

proposal of united nation to become nuclear free country.• Superpowers are really taking major steps towards nuclear

armament and helping united nation to make world nuclear free zone.

Page 5: Public perception

NRA’S INFLUENCE ON CONGRESS• Not widely recognized to happen or be a problem• People unaware that even if they agree with their ideas and

purpose, they are not completely beneficial to them

Page 6: Public perception

• Driverless car ,seems like science fiction, but would become a mainstream reality in 20 years. It would reshape the world in next 20 years, just like what the Internet did in this 20 years.

• Public perception: Driverless cars are much more safer than normal cars. However, some people think driverless car is unreliable.

DRIVERLESS CARS

Page 7: Public perception

• Most of people have little idea of how the driverless cars can reshape their lives

• (driverless cars could become productive and pleasant personal space, except for cars they also can work as bedroom, dining room or even gym. Traffic lights, traffic jam and parking lots could disappear. People can save half of the original time and gasoline on the way to work.)

DRAG RACINGDone at a track not on the street like Fast and Furious

Page 9: Public perception

CONT’D• People see drag racing in movies and think that it is all the

same• People don’t know what it really is and is associated with

Illegal racing• The NHRA sanctioned and regulated sport of drag racing is

often confused with illegal street racing and the dangers it posses.

• The NHRA is struggling to keep sponsors since the economy tanked a few years ago. People aren’t spending as much and the sport is reaching fewer people because of what people perceive it to be.

• People don’t know how much safer it is than initially thought to be

OTHER PROBLEMS WITH EACH ISSUE

Page 11: Public perception

NRA’S INFLUENCE ON CONGRESS• Somewhat monopolized the issue on gun control• Have affected the elections of numerous government

officials and congressman for decades• Have changed large impacting policies such as the ban on

Automatic Weapons • Held as a major force in the loss of Al Gore’s election

campaign• A misrepresentation of the American Population is created

NUCLEAR ENERGY• Developing countries like India, Pakistan are not getting nuclear

technology which is essential for their development. Superpowers want the developing countries to be dependent on them.

• International politics between the countries also play important role in nuclear trade.

• Due to lack in the policies, nuclear trade between India and US as well as between China and Pakistan came up which caused imbalance between the nations.

• All countries are fighting against some kind of terrorism and they have to come together to fight it. However imbalanced relationship between the countries aiding terrorism to grow further and it may lead to nuclear terrorism.

• The policies don’t give importance to funding of IAEA. (International atomic energy agency).

Page 13: Public perception

• The public have qualms about trusting (sensors, radars, cloud-supplied road data, and) onboard processing power.

• Some people worry that driverless cars can be manipulated (Others worry that driverless cars can have their core functions and onboard computer data accessed and manipulated by automakers, governments and hackers.)

• Over 40,000 people are killed every year in car accidents

• 95% of which he said are caused by human mistakes.

• The margin of error for computers is much lower

• some people are not willing to risk their lives trusting computers.

DRIVERLESS CARS

Page 14: Public perception

• no policy about driverless car. • When a driverless car crash, who is responsible?• The technology is here, however, consumers’ misunderstand

and the backward in policy would hit the growth of driverless cars.

CONT’D

Page 15: Public perception

DRAG RACING• People don’t know how safe actual drag racing is.• It’s monitored by safety officials and emergency responders

unlike illegal street race where your life is in your own hands.

• Since 1971 there’s been thousands of crashes with 14 fatalities in the NHRA.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO EACH ISSUE

Page 17: Public perception

NRA• Further awareness to the problem• The combined effort of many smaller pro gun control groups• The rise of a competitor to match the efforts of the NRA

Page 18: Public perception

NUCLEAR ENERGY• The first step is to make changes in the treaty. The policies

of the treaty should be fair for all countries. Right now the policies are in the favor of superpowers.

• Superpowers should stop exploiting the treaty for their own benefits. They should promote nuclear disarmament by actually doing it rather than just passing the petitions.

• The IAEA should be make more powerful by international funding and giving more rights to take action against defaulters.

Page 19: Public perception

DRAG RACING• The best way to fix this is for the NHRA and sponsors to get

better publicity and get a deal with a better network where more people will see their sport. When people see more of a topic they understand it much better and see it as whole. People know what they are shown.

• Long answer short: exposure.

Page 20: Public perception

• Safety measures taken• the technology has the potential to

prevent collisions (and greatly reduce highway fatalities, injuries, vehicle damage, and costly insurance)

• New Policies• Let people know that these measures

and more are being researched

DRIVERLESS CARS

CONCLUSION• Public perception can be wrong• These issues, if seen in a better light can benefit both sides
