Dear Amy Bouchard:
I am writing this statement today in hopes of being elected the privilege of serving my alma mater as a member
of the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors. Getting involved with the Board of Directors has been a goal
of mine for quite some time. Now that my career has returned me to the Las Vegas area for the first time since
graduating in 2008, I finally have the opportunity to volunteer my time and expertise as member of the Board.
My time in Las Vegas while attending UNLV as an out-of-state student, working professional & entrepreneur was
everything I could have hoped for and more. I have since had the opportunity to work for some of the largest
hospitality companies in executive roles spanning from New York to Hawaii.
I understand how important it is to foster a culture of strong alumni relations; to help build our talented alumni
into stronger leaders and connected members of the community. I want to help make the UNLV Alumni
Association great and believe my leadership qualities can help get us there. I’m a strategic thinker and am a true
ambassador to UNLV.
I have built and maintained a solid network of UNLV graduates in each of my career opportunities; it’s amazing
to see how far our network spreads across the globe! From recruiting young leaders to enjoying the company of
other alumni, connecting with others like me has always been paramount while moving from place to place and
growing my career.
I have a strong interest in lecturing and teaching our fellow students in areas of my expertise now that I’m back
in the Las Vegas area. I’m proud to be a part of this year’s Hotel Mentorship Program and cannot wait to coach
young students into visionary industry leaders of the future. In addition, I believe that cultivating relationships
with other members the Board as well as those in leadership positions on campus will help me become a better
leader and ambassador within the community.
Being back in the Las Vegas area for the foreseeable future has made me realize the potential I can have on the
community, on UNLV and on myself as I grow both personally and professionally. I will dedicate the time to
attend meetings, events & always support the Association as a dedicated steward of our organizational mission.
I will support university programs and be an active member on committees, volunteering my time whenever and
wherever I can. Since returning in October, I’ve been looking for something in Las Vegas that I can truly be
passionate about; something that I can spend my free time on that truly makes a difference.
If elected, I can assure you that my passion and dedication towards developing the UNLVIP membership will be a
top priority of mine. My personal membership is set to upgrade in December to a UNLVIP Lifetime membership
once I’m scheduled for renewal. Considering my current employment with the largest employer in Nevada, of
which many of my colleagues are Alumni, I should have great access to grow our network.
I look forward to gaining knowledge of the inner workings of the university and giving back to the institution that
has provided me so much in my young career. I am excited to get involved and very much hope for good news
with respect to my acceptance on the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Sincerely,
Michael Klein ‘08
