Municipality: Township of Fredon (Detour into Township of Stillwater)  Facility: Bridge F‐04 Carrying Puder Road over a Branch of Paulins Kill

 Advisory: During routine monitoring and inspection of Bridge F‐04 by the Sussex County Division of Engineering, conditions were observed indicative of an imminent failure of the downstream roadway embankment threatening the safe flow of traffic along Puder Road.  In the interest of public safety the bridge was closed and will remain closed until such time as funding becomes available to design and construct remedial measures capable of restoring safety to the facility. 

 Actions Taken:  • Closure of Bridge F‐04 and posting of 

detour. • Investigation of remedial measures capable 

of stabilizing the slope and restoring operational safety to the facility sufficient to return the facility to limited service. 

 Follow Up Actions:  • None at this time, pending availability of 

funding.
