Public Hearing for 0.85 MTPA Integrated Steel & 184 MW Proposed expansion project of M/s

Super Smelter Limited, Jamuria Industrial Estate of WB was conducted on 30.06.2017, 12

noon at meeting Hall, Borough-1, Jamuria in Paschim Burdwan, WB. The Proceedings as

submitted by WBSPCB are as follows:

























Summary of Public Hearing report

Notice was given on 30.5.2017 in local daily „Ei Samay” and National daily “The Times of

India “for Public hearing of 0.85 MTPA Integrated Steel Expansion and 184 MW Power plant

of M/s Super Smelter Ltd in Jamuria Industrial Estate, Paschim Bardhhaman.

On 30.6.2017, at 12 noon PH was conducted in municipality Hall of Jamuria. Sri Kaushik

Mukherjee, W.B.C.S (Exe.), Dy. Magistrate & Dy. Collector and O.C.J.M, Paschim

Bardhhaman presided over the meeting. Sri Sudip Bhattacharya, Environment Engineer &

In-Charge Asansol Regional Officer, WBPCB and Sri Samit Dutta, Asst.Env. Engineer were

present in the Public Hearing.

Points raised in hearing by public and reply & commitment of Sri Rajeev Jha, Director of M/s

Super Smelter, whom represented the management have been given below.

pollution

On line stack monitoring and

results are being sent to server of

CPCB n regular basis.

2 Measures taken for tree plantation both

inside and outside the premises

In last 3 to 4 years 8,000saplings

have been planted both within and

outside premises. July has been

identified as plantation month

3 Management to contribute to local schools

and roads

Necessary CSR programs are being

conducted and will be conducted in

future for benefit of local people.




4 Provide job to local youth Industry provides skilled training

program for technical grade, the

benefits which can be availed by

local people. Different training

program for employees are being

conducted on regular basis.

5 What measures taken towards “Swasthya

mission” and “Nirmal Bangala Abhijan”

Necessary CSR programs are being

conducted and will be conducted in

future for benefit of local people.

6 Bore well water should not be used for

plant as ground water level is very low.

Total requirement of water to be

met from Ajay river & municipality

supply, also for water conservation

& rain water harvesting measures

are being adopted.

7 Health check-up camp to be organised in

locality

We are already providing health

check-up facilities to our

employees, we would look into

providing health check-up facilities

to locality also.

General Public and local bodies were in favour of the proposed expansion project of M/s

Super Smelter Ltd, Jamuria.

7.1 ENTERPRISE SOCIAL COMMITMENT:

The company will spend 2.5% of the total project cost of 2800 cr i.e 70 cr within 5 years

from the date of starting of construction activities.
