Performance in gear applications (Ref.5)

The Young modulus of ADI I lower than that of steel. Therefore, for a given input load, the contact area will be greater, due to the increased “conformance” of the material. This “conformance” contributes to lower noise and a reduced contact load for a given input. With graphite nodules in its Ausferrite matrix, ADI has better noise damping than steel. Grade JS/800-10 exceeds the performance of ductile iron gears and competes favorably with through hardened steel gears of similar hardness.

Economical performance Grade JS/800-10 may be an economical alternative for parts that require extensive machining after austempering.
