BINNS & BERRY

Binns & Berry have built innovation and technology into the Versa-Turn 7 heavy duty flat bed lathe. Modular construction techniques ensure that machines can be optimised to meet your individual applications.

BED: The 740 mm or 1100 mm width bed is designed for maximum stability under all conditions with the ability to absorb cutting forces and dampen vibrations. It is a heavy duty, single piece full to the floor casting. Tool steel guideways supporting the saddle are hardened (60 – 64 HRC) and precision ground.

The benefits of “Turn Through” and “Pass By” steady capability give unbeatable rigidity, capacity and versatility, minimising set up and allowing maximum productivity.

Our technology includes the latest CNC control systems, digital servo, spindle motors and drives.

The Versa Turn can be tailored to meet the most demanding requirements and offers modern high performance CNC turning centres for a range of specialised large capacity machines such as:

Providing unrivalled expertise in medium and large capacity turning.

BINNS & BERRY - DEEP HOLE BORING

CRAWFORD SWIFT - FRICTION STIR WELDING

Modern boring machines built to the highest degree of accuracy.

At PTG Heavy Industries we believe that modern boring methods require machines built to the highest degree of accuracy. Moreover, to solve boring problems in a rational manner it is essential to adapt machines to both the workpiece and boring technology.

We offer a full range of Binns & Berry deep hole boring machines based around the DATA series 2 guideway, centre drive, heavy duty cast iron beds.

The substantial full to the floor casting of heavily ribbed construction provides a “time proven” platform for the full range of deep hole boring disciplines. Hardened and ground precision “box” or “linear guideway” technology provides solutions for both high speed and heavy duty deep hole boring applications.

Our range of boring machines offer swing over bed capacities from 500mm to 1,500mm (20” to 59”), with boring depths from 3,000mm (118”) to 20,000mm (800”) in 500mm (20”) increments. Spindle powers from 22kW (30HP) to 150kW (200HP).

Hi-Tech Friction Stir Welding machine expertise.

The award winning Crawford Swift Powerstir FSW machines are developed for a broad range of applications with special attention paid to structural rigidity and the load sensing requirements of the FSW process. This results in the mechanics of the Powerstir machines being able to react to even the heaviest welding loads, ensuring precise force control and minimum deflection.

Powerstir FSW machines offer far reaching opportunities for jointing traditionally difficult to weld alloys. Providing superlative weld properties without the detrimental effects of conventional welding.

The technology provided in the Powerstir range of FSW machines offers position control, force control, load sensing, real time data logging of weld parameters with closed loop feedback (adaptive control), seam tracking and height sensing. Machines range from smaller travelling table Lab type machines, to massive 10 axis gantry machines with upper and lower spindles. Spindle powers up to 150 kW (202HP) are available. The Powerstir range ensures a solution is available for the most demanding of applications.
