    Press & Tool Concept

    The Press & Tool concept was developed in Switzerland by a reputable press manufacturer and was taken over and carried on by mder pressen. It stands for Swiss technology made in Germany.

    Press & Tool concept stands for a rounded press and tool programme for the efficient production of selective sheet-metal work in a force range from 10 kN to 100 kN.

    The presses quality is based on the following points:

    SOLID FRAME

    A solid cast-iron C-shaped body that has high stability and a slight deflection during cutting, thus enabling the application of cost-effective cutting tools in many manufacturing processes.

    MICRO ADJUST

    The press tables precise height adjustment simplifies the set-up of the Press & Tool concept presses and increases their possible applications. The series of dials allows for a reading accuracy of 0.1 mm.

    QUICK TOOL CHANGE

    The standardised tool-holding fixture system enables you to change various tools from the Press & Tool concept quickly with a little manoeuvring.

    Toggle Presses

    The Vario models are characterised by the special design of the toggle transformation. This brings advantages in the distribution of force:

    Smooth adjustable stroke length

    Stroke reduction leads to increased leverage

    Optimised linear force distribution

    Stroke length is quickly adjusted by just loosening a screw.

    Calculating the shear forceThe required force for punching is calcu-lated from the following sizes:

    Rm = Materials shear strength in N/mm2 I = Cut edge length in mms = material strength in mm

    The required shear force F is calculated as follows for parallel lying cutting edges:

    F = Rm I s

    Example of a calculation:

    Punching a hole : 8.5 mm in 1.5 mm strong AIMg 5 half-hard (Rm = 240 N/mm2)

    F = 8.5 mm p 240 N/m2F = 9608.4 N 9.6 kN

    The required cutting force can be red-uced by up to 30% approx by means of beveled or serrated cutting.

    Die clearance:

    Distribution of force in parallel cutting edges.

    You can apply a rough rule of thumb, that the die clearance should be 10% of the material strength. The W14 tool system is delivered with a standard die clearance of 0.1 mm. The die clearance has to be specially adapted for soft materials, synthetic materials and thin foils.
