as Oklahoma is in a dynamic state especially during the Spring months After traveling several weeks yes months he reaches New Mexico and by this time he is out of reach of temptation has blowed in his last cent in fact he is ready to make his home in the WestSo he takes up a claim digs a hole in the ground in which to live then goes to digging ditch- es to get his Spring crops moist ¬ ened and after digging half his wits away he puts iir a small crop of corn or pie mellons in a I field so that there is no danger of the old cow jumping in and devouring the crop for the field is so small that shee would jump over After working very hard the hail snow or something of the kind lays his crop by Then alas there is nothing for him to do but send for money to get back to Kentucky saying that he will never want a fortune in the West praying to God to spare his life from cyclones tornadoes etc till he can get back He thinks that he would be happy to wake and find that he had left Kentucky only
