Aim and Objective:Aim:To introduce the ‘zero’ for a Pre-ScholarObjective: To help them to Improve counting skills with
help of zero. To help them to Improve Maths skills with
help of zero. To develop activities that enable Pre-Scholar
to understand the Value of zero.
About ZeroIndian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhata
has invented the number zero.The meaning of zero is not anything or No objectsZero is written in the shape of Egg.If it were not for zero, the numbers 205 and 25
would be indistinguishable.The difference between 0 and other numbers is
that all of the other numbers have a tangible visual form, whereas 0 does not. Some children really struggle to understand that 0 means nothing.
Spindle Box(Montessori Method)This is Montessori method used to introduce
numbers to kids.
Point to the number 1. Have the child read it and then say, “We will put 1 spindle in this box.”
Place one spindle in the compartment.
Repeat for 2, counting the spindles as you place them, “One, two.” Continue this up to

Activity2Teacher : You come “Zero” times. Child : How can I come to you “Zero” times?Teacher : "You must not move. You must not
come even once. 'Zero' means no times at all!"
VALUE OF ZEROBasically individual zero don’t have any value.But after the placement of any number it has
more valuable. Like 10 , 20 , 30 etc.,The increase of number of zero’s in after any
number it has most valuable.Like 100,200,1000 etc.
