Pump Start Relays
What Pump Start Relays Do
In general they only allow the pump to operate when it is needed for irrigation
They work with an irrigation controller’s start and stop commands to facilitate an electrical path from a breaker box to the pump motor
They include smart features for dry run protection (low pressure sensor, high temperature sensor, and level sensors)
Why Choose Rain Bird Pump Start Relays?
The current draw of many competitors’ pump start relays exceeds the output capacity of most controller master valve (MV) or decoder outputs– Rain Bird PSRs with the ice cube relay reduces the current draw
compared to Hunter and other manufacturers allowing for more consistent and reliable operation at greater distances
– Controllers monitor current draw and automatically shutdown outputs in an overload situation to protect themselves – this is less likely with Rain Bird PSRs
Experienced contractors install double relays (ice-cube relay controls standard pump start relay) to get around this problem– No need for this extra step because Rain Bird PSRs include the ice
cube relay as standard
Pumps and irrigation systems can be damaged when controllers turn them on and there is no water available– Rain Bird PSRs feature built-in protection that can save a
contractor $$ vs. replacing a burned out pump! PSRP models includes a pressure switch for low pressure
dry-run protection PSRPL models includes water level controls for dry-run
protection on water harvesting systems Optional high temperature sensor
Rain Bird PSRs simplify installation and saves time and labor– Connect to controller MV or decoder, power, pump and go!– Factory interconnections for ice-cube relay and sensors
Why Choose Rain Bird Pump Start Relays?
Rain Bird Pump Start Relay Compatibility with Controllers
Rain Bird PSR-Series Relays were tested and approved for use with the following controllers– Rain Bird
ESP-M/Me ESP-SMT/SMTe ESP-LXME/LXMEF ESP-LXD
– Hunter PRO-C/PCC ICC, ICORE ICORE-DUAL ACC1200/99D
– The controllers tested have similar output capacity specifications as a majority of controllers on the market today
