SIGNAGE

With the development of new

technologies comes the

development of new business

opportunities. Are you ready to think

out-of-the-box in terms of digital

signage?

Have you noticed that in many places thereused to be blank walls, but now there is aflat screen monitor? It’s not that there was

inherently anything wrong with the wall or eventhe poster that could have adorned the place for aperiod, it’s just that technology is moving on atsuch a pace with prices becoming even morereasonable and with the increased capabilities ofthe systems they can be deployed in areas whereoriginally they would have been far too expensiveor, just a pipe dream.

The first place where the general public firstsaw the use of technology in such a way wasprobably in the Post Office. The clever people whoran the operation realised that the long snakingqueue at lunchtimes was a captive audience andthe installation of television screen at variouspoints along the line could not only sell theshoppers more items from the Post Office counter, but it could also be a revenue stream for externaladvertisers to extoll the virtues of their wares, thus creating a revenue stream which wouldrapidly cover the costs of the equipment and theinstallation.

Today it is not uncommon to see AV systemsused in all kinds of areas. In many cases they

have been used to replace advertisement posters(such as on the London Underground escalators)and in some places the touchscreen has taken theplace of the monitor that replaced the poster.Take self-service and POS for example. There arenow so many different ways for a customer topurchase items while in a store that the days ofthe checkout operator seem to be going the wayof the CD. And what’s more, all of these systemsare linked so that the store can record yourbuying habits – not that these may be your actualpreferences anyway as the AV screens in the shopare influencing your decisions and how you movearound the store. Couple all of this with pesterpower and impulse buying and your shopping tripjust got more expensive.

Don’t believe me? Try doing your weekly shoponline and see the price difference.

The use of AV in such a way is an example ofhow technology was developed and then evolved.Originally only computers had monitors, but nowthat we all have tablets, it’s public spaceadvertisers that are the big users of monitors. Notthat a journey into town these days is like theopening scene in Blade Runner, but the use ofscreens is growing at an amazing pace – and thetechnology innovations have not slowed either. Some of the latest AV monitors to hit the marketare not only HD touchscreens but they can betwo-way; interacting with the person in front of it.Screens don’t have to be square or 16:9 either. The digital totem is commonplace in shops invarying shapes and sizes. Some screens are1080p but UHD and 4K are not far from being

introduced to the wider world and curved screens have just beenannounced too. This is one fast moving sector!

This constant development of technology has led to the type ofdigital signage systems installed being of such superior quality thatyou now almost expect HD wherever you go. Just try nippingthrough a fast food drive through and you’ll probably see screens asgood as the one you have at home to watch Blu-Ray films on.Because of this it is vital that if retail outlets and brands want toappear at the forefront of their market or a ‘leader’ in the field thenthe technology they use in public to promote themselves mustreflect this. Not only must the visual content of the message bestunning, but so must the screen on which it is showing.

Would you buy anything that you saw on a screen that had aresolution worse than HD? That is not a risk that advertisers cantake. The cost of digital signage in a shop is not just the price of thetechnology; there is also the video content and the floor space topay for (specifically for totems), so the unit cannot look inferiorwithout damaging the brand of which it is promoting.

In some instances where screens have not been replaced forsome time, perhaps maybe because they are in-built into a fascia(such as on a bus) you tend to find that the video space is stillavailable for rent because digital marketing experts don’t want toassociate with lower quality technology.

So the lifecycle of screens doesn’t appear to be all that long andnot only because retailers need to upgrade their own shopfittedsignage on a regular basis. Can you remember the first time yousaw a flat screen plasma TV? Well last year Panasonic, the companythat championed plasma and made some of the biggest screens inthe world for events such as the Olympics, pulled out of the marketin favour of cheaper to produce LCD units. Not because plasma wasinferior in terms of picture quality, just that the lower unit pricesmeans that large screen televisions are now available to all, not justthe rich and famous.

When stores decide to have a redesign the digital signage can becompletely replaced as well meaning that the level of contractopportunities for installers and suppliers of AV systems is biggerthan ever. Add to the mix the monitors needed for CCTV footage thatyou see in the entrances of stores and the ones you don’t see in theback office and you can see where installers could see regularrevenue streams.

For a security installer the opportunities for fitting monitors hasmoved on rapidly from the multi-screens in alarm receiving centresand control stations and while this is still a great source of businessfor them (see the article on p8) there are retail and public spaceapplications that have made a new market for those that know theirway around digital signage and how to fit it.

Welcome toPSiX issue 2S

ince we launched this special publication a few months agowe’ve had some great feedback from the industry especiallyabout the way in which we’ve been able to bring together a

circulation to match the converging markets of security and AV/IT.There is already a dedicated UK magazine for security systeminstallers (PSi) and there are lots of IT and AV-based publications, but none of these cross the boundaries in terms of content andcirculation to reflect the integration of the technologies like PSiXdoes.

We hope you continue to see PSiX as a valuable source ofinformation for those projects that involve the installation ofsystems that may traditionally not have been in your remit to fit,but due to network and technology innovations have become so.And if there are any subjects you would like us to cover in thefuture, be sure to get in touch.

IHS has released its fifth annual white paper onthe key trends for the video surveillance industry.2014 is predicted to be another exciting year for

the industry, with big data, thermal cameras, embedded audio capabilities and the rise of thecloud in China just a few of the trends to watch outfor during the next twelve months.

If you want to know what is going to happenthis year, read on:

Video surveillance IHS has been researching the video surveillanceequipment market for more than 10 years. Duringthis time, the market has grown quickly, mostyears at a double digit rate. The year 2014 will beno exception. IHS forecasts that the global marketwill grow by more than 12 percent. Within theglobal market, IHS has identified fixed-dome and180/360 degree network cameras as the fastestgrowing product segments, and the citysurveillance and utilities/energy sectors as thevertical markets to watch.

Big DataThe prevalence of smart phones, with camerasand internet connectivity—combined with socialmedia apps such as Vine or Instagram—has led tothe first “crowd sourced” data collection for aninvestigation in 2013, following the BostonMarathon bombings.

Now that the trend has begun, IHS predicts itis likely that police forces will increasinglyrequest, and need to manage, crowd sourcedvideo surveillance data. While this will allow lawenforcement agencies to react more quickly, especially with the use of social mediamonitoring, it will also create data analysis andmanipulation challenges. Meeting thesechallenges will provide systems integrators andsoftware vendors with a new opportunity tocreate solutions that improve police incidentresponses in 2014 and beyond.

Cloud markets in ChinaIn China, the concept of the cloud is becomingincreasingly popular, especially as the telecominfrastructure matures. As network bandwidthimproves and network product pricing declines, cloud based video surveillance solutions aredrawing the attention of more suppliers. While acloud based solution is not a compulsory choice,it does represent a great opportunity to leveragethe massive demand for civil video surveillance.

With more attention and an increasingcustomer base, IHS predicts that cloud basedvideo surveillance solutions will be defined by thevalue created in the applications it offers to

customers. With more than 1 billion potentialusers in China, getting the right mix of product andsecurity features will be a successful combination.

Thermal cameras IHS forecasts that the video surveillance productmarket that will see the largest average sellingprice (ASP) decline during the next few years willbe the un-cooled thermal camera market. Whilethe number of un-cooled thermal camera unitsshipped to the commercial security industrysuggests that the market has not yet beencommoditised, increased competition, newproducts and new end-user markets will mean2014 is a breakthrough year for the technology.

Panoramic cameras The big video surveillance camera categorywinner in 2014 will be 180/360 degree panoramicnetwork cameras, with global unit shipmentsforecast to increase by more than 60 percent year-on-year, according to IHS. In particular, thecameras are predicted to gain market share inverticals such as retail, airports and casinos, where monitoring wide indoor areas is a keyrequirement of the video surveillance system.

Power over EthernetAs the transition towards network videosurveillance continues, increasing focus is beingplaced on the supporting network infrastructure, and a crucial element to this is power. Recentdevelopments in power over Ethernet (POE)standards and products make the technology amuch more viable option for security managers.Looking forward, IHS expects that security cameramanufacturers will expand and develop theirportfolios of low-powered cameras to conform tothe POE+ standard. Technologies that overcomethe distance limitations of Ethernet and POE alsowill find general market acceptance.

Live video and mobile accessFollowing the events of the school shooting inSandy Hook twelve months ago, there has beenrenewed focus on the idea of facility securitymanagers securely sharing live video footage withlaw enforcement in the event of an incident. Thetechnology needed to provide this already exists, yet issues over ongoing cost—and moreimportantly, who pays for the system—have meantthat market penetration has been limited. However, with costs dropping and a refocus on protection ofassets of both the physical and human kind in thepost-Sandy Hook era, 2014 could be the year wherelive streaming of video surveillance to lawenforcement becomes the norm.

VIDEO TRENDS

Video analytics For some time now, video surveillance devicevendors have been embedding low-end videoanalytics applications in their devices and offeringthem as “free” features. A question has thereforebeen raised: Will there continue to be a market forvideo analytics, or will all applications simply beoffered for free? As the market reaches this fork inthe road, it’s clear that vendors can no longercharge for basic algorithms. That said, in 2014,the market for video surveillance devices withchargeable VCA will remain a viable market inapplications where the end-user needs advancedreliable analytics.

Cameras to make noiseMore than 70 percent of network camerasshipped globally in 2013 had either unidirectionalor multidirectional audio capability, according to anew analysis from IHS. However, the consensusfrom security systems integrators is that thesecapabilities are rarely used. Nonetheless, withincreasing awareness of embedded audioanalytics and even sound source localisation, market penetration could be about to rise. Withmuch of the technology alreadyavailable and the constant needto differentiate products andincrease system efficiency, IHSpredicts that the market will seegreater emphasis on the audiocapabilities of video surveillancesystems in 2014.

Vendors to enter new marketsContrary to popular belief, thephysical security market is notconsolidating, at least not in thenear future. However, videosurveillance vendors arebeginning to look at new marketsas they invest the profits madefrom years of fast market growth.Following the announcements ofnew products from companies likeMilestone Systems and AxisCommunications and newservices from Hikvision andDahua during 2013, IHS expectsthis trend to continue into 2014with more new product andservice announcements fromnetwork focused securitycompanies, as they seek to addnew revenue streams to theirportfolio.

Healthy market growthexpectedCEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design andInstallation Association) recently announcedthe findings of its second survey into the UKresidential custom installation sector. Theresults show an industry anticipating healthyannual growth in turnover this year.

According to the research, the outlook ispositive for the industry - with average

projected turnover for Custom Installation (CI)companies in 2013 looking to exceed thereported £1m in 2012. Another significant findingshowed that in 2013 the number of individualsemployed as a Home Technology Professional(HTP) in the UK has increased 12% year-on-yearto over 11,250. The growth of a skilled labourforce points to greater market confidence andhigher 2013 sales for the residential custominstallation industry as a whole.

“The research presents a positive outlook forthe CI industry, demonstrating that we aresteadily growing and creating new jobs withinthe sector. As we’ve recently come out of a longperiod of recession, the results paint apromising picture of growth, expansion andemployment opportunities,” says CEDIA’sExecutive Director in Region 1, Wendy Griffiths.

Other findings in the survey included:• The market research sized the UK

residential custom installation sector asworth from between £840 million and £875million in 2012.

• The average number of projects completed is

projected to be 24, up on 21 projects in2012.70% of firms said they exclusivelycompleted projects only in the UK (up on42% in 2012); 30% carried out installationsworldwide, with the majority taking place incontinental Europe.

• Average gross turnover in 2012 was £1million, lower than that of 2011 (£1.27million). With £741,000 reported for the firsthalf of 2013, full year 2013 will approach2011 levels and exceed 2012.

• HTP’s are increasingly includingcloud/streaming services – 64% reportedincluding these in 2013 compared to 57% in2012.

• 60% of all projects take place in existinghomes and 40% in new-build properties.

• Equipment costs continue to account forapproximately half the value of a typicalproject. 23% of equipment costs are forwires and interconnections.

• An estimated 1250 companies are active inthe UK residential custom installation sector.

• 77% of companies reported installingstructured wiring in the first half of 2013, upfrom 72% in 2012. Also showing growth thisyear is security (alarm) systems at 41%, arise of 3% from 2012.

• HTPs project that 16% of all TV/screens saleswill be Ultra HD in the 12 months followingthe survey (second half of 2013 to secondhalf of 2014).

• AV projects account for approximately 48% ofall HTP residential turnover, with homecinema/media rooms the largest slice at 21%,followed by lighting control/design at 12%.

operators through the videowall processor. Thesoftware can be used to recognise predeterminedfaces such as VIPs and known offenders, sendingan alert through to the control centre for theappropriate action to be taken. Alternatively, images can be retrieved from pre-recorded data, allowing the search for individuals such as lostchildren or people at risk in public spaces such asshopping centres and tourist attractions.

One of the world’s leading suppliers ofnetworking products, Zyxel provides a whole hostof network infrastructure solutions. Known forquality and reliability, their products are ideallysuited to deliver the network infrastructure forany command and control system. Their ZyWallseries of VPN firewalls are feature richincorporating firewall, IDP, content filtering, anti-virus, anti-spam and VPN functionalities into asingle box. Whilst their switches offer a hugeamount of flexibility to the user with unmanaged, managed, web managed and PoE options as wellas lifetime guarantees on certain models.

OpportunitiesA large majority of security installers are familiarwith the workings of a command and control centre– whether it’s a large or small project, mostinstallations needs some scale of monitoring todisplay what the cameras are seeing. It is here thata whole world of possibilities opens up to installers. For some considerable time now, videowalls have

established themselves as the display medium inaverage to large command and control centres.Indeed, with technology progressing and hardwarecosts falling, even the smallest project can makeuse of the videowall phenomenon.

The big question is; why installers should limittheir skills and the latest technology to securityenvironments? Videowalls are fast becomingcommonplace in retail, healthcare, universities aswell as corporate environments.

Today’s technology is designed to work acrossa myriad of markets and security installers’expertise can also cross over to unlock potentialnew revenue streams.

Today’s distributors are fully aware of howcurrent customers can further their business byutilising their skills across various verticalmarkets and have been proactive in promoting theconvergence message.

Mark Thomas, director at Midwich Security, hasbeen instrumental in driving the convergencemessage with the IP /AV crossover and has helpedmany of its customers bring their skills to lucrativenew areas: “Today’s security installers have manystrings to their bow – and these are skills that canbe applied in a wide variety of markets. Being aspecialist distributor, one of our core aims is toensure our customers are successful in theirbusiness and, in the case of Midwich Security, wehave numerous services and training facilities toensure they are fully equipped for whatevertechnology the future brings.”

When it comes to integrated securitysolutions, today’s installers are having tocontend with a phenomenal array of

systems and providers in their quest to deliver asolution for their customers. Along the way theyneed to seriously consider whether the best route isto deal directly with one large multi-national vendoror, instead, to turn to a number of specialistproviders who can bring the pieces of the puzzletogether. Of course at a practical level, whicheverpath is chosen it is all about whether specificelements, such as an access control or alarmsystem, are actually going to work together in aseamless way.

For large scale projects, like office complexes, airports, hospitals or manufacturing plants, installers may be tempted to specify one majorsupplier for the bulk of the security systemelements. Often there is a belief that this is the bestway to tap into the expertise necessary to combinedisparate systems in a coherent, risk-free, way. Ifthings do go wrong the thinking goes that at leastthere is only one person to seek out for remedialaction. However, from the outset, it needs to beappreciated that there can be a downside to literallyputting all of your eggs in one basket.

The reality of taking a ‘one provider fits all’approach and working with a ‘generalist’, may bethat, although on the surface everything operatestogether, by virtue of the security systems’ commonorigins, a performance gap can be left that couldotherwise have been bridged. By limiting theoptions, each security integration element is, inreality, going to be less likely to represent the mostinnovative, or user friendly, solution that could bedelivered.

Obtaining a proper understanding of acustomer’s needs must be top of the agenda for allparties involved in the security system integrationprocess, including, critically, installers. From aHarmony Alliance perspective, we feel that it is timefor a re-think on how security integration isconducted by focusing on a way of combining thebenefits of a ‘one-stop-shop’ with specialistproviders’ expertise whilst also ensuring, crucially, that the process is solutions-driven. Consequently, companies who may not be the biggest players inthe marketplace overall but who lead their ownrespective fields - whether that be intruder alarms, access control, detection at the perimeter orsecurity system power supplies – should be given amuch greater role at the project level. The reality isthat when they coordinate their efforts thisknowledge can prove invaluable in helpinginstallers, and end users, to unlock a solution thatis fit-for-purpose.

Considering the Harmony Alliance, for example, our initiative, launched at the recent Global Security

Summit, is all about bringing specialist like-mindedproviders together – with complementarycapabilities - who can offer a new perspective onmajor projects beyond that offered by traditionalplayers. We believe that, moving forward, it makessense for the market to focus on ‘best of breed’security integration coupled with the reassurancethat each part of the system has the potential towork together. Crucially, with the Alliance, at theproject level, we are not looking to offer productswithout first appreciating the real requirements onthe ground.

In some respects the new Alliance we havecreated, which features five UK-headquarteredelectronic security manufacturers - specificallyElmdene International Limited, GJD, ALT, Texecomand TDSi - formalises already existing links whereproducts from several companies have commonlybeen specified together. A good example of this isthe fact that in recent years there has been arequirement from customers using Texecom’sintruder alarm products to be able to integratethese with TDSi’s access control systems.Ultimately, this led to an announcement earlier inthe year regarding compatibility by the twocompanies.

We believe the Harmony Alliance very muchreflects the demand for new thinking on the ground. The rolling out of this initiative is designed todeliver the sort of product breadth, and reach, necessary to compete head-on with the establishedcompetitors in the marketplace across a broadspectrum of security applications. It is all aboutopening up choice in the marketplace. No longer doinstallers always want to be tied-in with atraditional player to achieve the seamless, and wideranging, integration they are looking for. If weconsider an airport in this context, where there is aneed to secure key areas and assist passengermovement, the combined expertise of specialistproviders can be wide ranging. It is perfectlypossible in this way to encompass: access controlreaders and controllers, intruder alarms andwireless products, external movement detectors - toprovide an early warning of potential dangers - andhighly efficient and reliable power supplies to meetthe demands of security-critical components.

So the message for those installers with a majorproject in mind, and looking to bring togethermultiple security elements, is that today there aremany more options out there in terms of who youcan work with, and how the right solution for yourclient’s needs can be delivered. Certainly, we feelthat the Harmony Alliance is indicative of the waythat security integration is moving, particularly, given the level of knowledge needed to keep upwith the advances in any one specific area. Bycombining key product specialists under oneumbrella in initiatives like this there is now thedepth and range in place to help ensure that thesolution which is being proposed is actually fit-for-purpose.

The security industry has many components:CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, firesafety to name just a few. Today’s technology

is designed to be able to work alongside othersystems to create a whole new, connectedsolution that is intuitive and proactive. Asurveillance camera is no longer just looking at ascene, it’s also able to look for smoke, suspiciousitems and irrational behaviour. When linkingcameras to other systems, alarms can be raised, doors locked, lights switched on and any numberof other actions taken on the strength of what thecamera picked up.

With the benefit of putting all of these systemson to a network, end users can now look at theirsecurity systems online from anywhere in theworld, at any time of the day. What’s more, systems can automatically inform the owner viaSMS that they are experiencing a technicalproblem and in some cases even make a decisionon what needs to be done.

However amazing the benefits offered bymodern technology are, it wouldn’t be the donething for a security manager to simply go out andbuy a load of IP-enabled equipment without firstconsulting the IT manager who will be expected to

welcome fifty shiny new CCTV cameras onto hisnetwork. The procurement process now involvesboth parties, meaning that they now both need tobe aware of the developments in technology.

As the networking of security technologybecomes more commonplace, then the ITmanager is having more of an influence in theprocurement procedure and the introduction of IPinto the world of security is bringing more peoplethan ever into the sector. This absorption of ITinto the security world is changing the way thatsystems are specified, bought, sold and installed.

The migration to IP-based video surveillance isfirmly established and the question is no longer“when will IP-based equipment sales overtakeanalogue equipment sales?” for manyapplications this has already happened.

The arrival of IP-technology has brought itsown questions, and simultaneously changed theshape of the market place. With the emergence ofIP-based technology, it appears that ITdistributors and IT integrators are now, increasingly, competing with traditional securitydistributors and security integrators.

SECURITY AND IT

found that 80 percent of North American systemsintegrators and installers purchase some IP-based video surveillance equipment from ITdistributors, and the report said that this wasexpected to increase to 90 percent of systemsintegrators and installers by 2015. One year awayand the market is certainly looking favourable forthe distributors.

This finding compliments the fact thatincreasingly IT distributors are looking to addvideo surveillance products to their productrange. This could be good news for the traditionalIT integrators who are also looking to enter thevideo surveillance industry, as they will alreadyhave the established relationships with their ITdistributors. However, many IT integrators are notlooking to their distributors for the securityknowledge they lack but are instead goingdirectly to the manufacturers of the cameras theyare using.

A key finding from the “IP Trends in Security –A Survey of Systems Integrators and Installers”report is the influence IT managers have in thedecision of what IP-based video surveillanceproducts are chosen. IT managers were rankedahead of other key influencers such as physicalsecurity managers, chief security officers andconsultants in their ability to influence which IP-based video surveillance products are chosen.

One reason for this influence may be the factthat IT budgets are typically larger than theassociated security budgets. Instead of securitymanagers buying an IP-camera and speaking withthe IT department about how to incorporate it intothe network, increasingly the IT department willbuy the security equipment from their budget andincorporate the device into their network.

In the UK, we all know that analogue systemsare well established, but IP is not just limited toCCTV. Many of the new developments to hit themarket in the last few years are IP-enabled so thisemergence of the IT integrator into the marketindicates how the security landscape has evolvedin the last few years, and also how important it isthat everyone in the security procurement processis aware of the way that security and IT gotogether for maximum performance andefficiency.

Any company that continues to operate withthe two departments working independently willsurely struggle to attain the levels of security theyexpect for their new technology and quickly findthemselves operating a system that may either beobsolete or even risking their corporateinfrastructure.

It should also be noted that IP technology isnot the only CCTV market for the IT/AV installer tomove into with the analogue sector still goingstrong in many application areas there are waysto “upgrade” existing systems, or at least some

elements of it, without needing to use a network.Using technologies such as HD-SDI and 960Hanalogue surveillance equipment can be broughtup to speed with its IP counterpart. Of course, themajor vendor marketing budgets are heavilyfocused towards pushing IP and there are anumber of CCTV manufacturers and suppliers whoonly deal with IP, but even the largest cameracompanies maintain a healthy analogue R&D linewith new units continually launched.

For those working currently in IT however, theIP networkable systems offer a new revenuestream that could tie in nicely with the installationof networks, AV, POS, access control and othertechnologies due mainly to the ability to integratethe cameras alongside such equipment bringingone converged system to the customer.

What may be required, as previously stated, isthe education needed to fit the cameras in thebest position for optimum security and imagequality, plus the co-operation and input of the ITdepartment at the customer site.

Megapixel cameras deliver ultra-detailed imageswith more useful information – but this comes at acost. The volume of data required to transport andstore these images has risen significantly. Thebandwidth demands that this places on thenetwork infrastructure and the increase inrequired storage capacity adds significantly tototal IP system costs. Disk space is one of themost expensive components of IP systems. Higherstorage costs can ultimately cost you thedifference of winning the next large project. Thebest place to reduce these costs is at the source –in the camera. And this is where Bosch takes amulti-pronged approach to reducing the quantityof data while retaining high quality of image: • Content-based Imaging Technology (CBIT) to

reduce noise• Region prioritization to target important

information• Optimized encoder efficiency to increase

compression ratiosThe combination of these technologies has a

significant impact on the bit rate/quality ratiowhich is directly proportional to storage andnetwork costs.

The key to noise reductionNoise is a random pattern of pixels visible in theimage. Some degree of noise is always present inany electronic device that transmits or receives asignal. Image noise is an undesirable by-productof image capture and the most detrimental factorin clogging the encoding process which leadsdirectly to exaggerated bit rates for a given image.

Megapixel cameras are more susceptible to noiseas the pixels on the sensor are smaller and are notable to collect as much light. More amplification isrequired which introduces noise. Low-light scenesalso contribute to an increase in noise levels.

A first in the security industry, Boschintroduces a new technology for controlling theimage processing. Content-based ImagingTechnology (CBIT) is an intelligent sceneanalysis system that examines the actualcontent of the video image and providesfeedback to the digital signal processor (DSP) tore-tune the image processing.

Bosch is the only security cameramanufacturer with full control over imageprocessing with intelligent video analysis (IVA)and Motion+. With this ground-breakingplatform CBIT enables the sensors, the imageprocessing and IVA to work as one module. CBITradically improves the image quality in manyareas but also has considerable impact whenused to reduce noise.

Turning iDNR into real savingsThe savings that can be achieved with iDNR areeasy to calculate. In our tests, bit rate reductionshowed savings of up to 58 percent in oneexample. This can be directly correlated tosavings realized in storage costs. So, in essence,if a video storage device costs 8.000 you maypossibly only need to spend 3360 for the sameamount of image detail being stored.

Bosch has engineered the ability to tune theimage pipeline based on scene content. As aresult of this, we are able to implement IntelligentDynamic Noise Reduction (iDNR) which canreduce noise in an image based on motion andlight levels. iDNR generally delivers up to 50percent bit rate reduction over standard VBR inscenes without motion. Combined with the fullrange of CBIT features, this means an overallreduction of up to 30 percent for your surveillancesystem – this means a dramatic reduction inrequired storage space, power and cooling whichenables you protect your assets, your budget, andthe environment.

Remember, it is always possible to reduce bitrate - but this normally affects image qualityadversely. The key benefit of iDNR and regionprioritization is that you get significantly lowerbandwidth without loss of image quality.

Bosch cameras provide the most usable imagepossible by optimizing the detail-to-bandwidthratio. This equates to considerable savings onstorage costs without jeopardizing image quality!Ultimately, the Megapixel camera that providesthe highest quality video with the lowestbandwidth and storage requirements will be themost desirable choice for the customer.

INTELLIGENT DYNAMIC NOISE REDUCTION (IDNR) TECHNOLOGY

www.psimagazine.co.uk

Innovative technologiesfound in Bosch HD andMegapixel IP camerascan effectively reducenetwork bandwidthrequirements andsubsequent storagecosts, whilemaintaining highquality and detailedimages.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (iDNR)Classic noise reduction can take two forms. Spatial noise reduction averages thepixels within a frame to reduce noise. Temporal noise reduction involves averagingpixels over several frames to cancel out noise artifacts.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (iDNR) is a new approach that uses acombination of these two methods and dynamically adjusts them based upon lightlevels and the CBIT analysis of moving objects in the scene.

Temporal noise reduction is very effective for static images but can causeproblems when there is motion in the image. If temporal noise reduction is appliedto moving objects, ghosting may be visible in the image where objects are blurred orrepeated. CBIT analysis identifies those frames in which there is movement andpasses this information back to the DSP which then adapts the temporal noisereduction for these frames.iDNR uses three factors to control spatial and temporal noise reduction: • CBIT movement analysis • Scene light level • User-set levels

By combining these processes, iDNR optimizes bandwidth by dynamicallytuning the degree of noise reduction based upon an analysis of important objectsmoving through the camera’s field of view. When the scene is quiet or no motion ispresent, bandwidth is minimized. When an important object is detected, bandwidthincreases to capture maximum details. iDNR’s advanced algorithm can reduce bitrates and storage requirements by up to 50 percent in certain scenes withoutreducing video quality.

VMS aids integration for schoolsMilestone XProtect open platform videomanagement software (VMS) is the basis for anintegrated security system in the Traverse City AreaPublic Schools (TCAPS). Since each schoolpreviously had a stand-alone system, the securitywas upgraded to connect all 26 buildings in thedistrict on one IP network.

Paul Mahon, Director of Construction andMaintenance for TCAPS, partnered withCOMMTECH Design for the integrated solution thathas Milestone video surveillance technology as thecentral core. “Since the Milestone XProtectintegration into our school district, we’ve hadinstances on campus where having a reliablesecurity system has easily reinforced our decisionto upgrade,” confirms Mahon.

The Traverse City Area Public School District(TCAPS) covers 300 square miles over threecounties in Central Michigan, with thousands ofstudents, teachers and staff. The increased need toprotect them and the valuable public property of its26 buildings prompted a custom security system toenable monitoring all school activity from a centralhub that integrates all security systems in thedistrict into one easy-to-use yet effective platform.Milestone XProtect Corporate software allowsauthorised staff to monitor for safety, security anddisciplinary actions at any time.

“We’ve worked with multiple solutions over theyears, each deploying its own stand-alonepresence, with pros and cons,” stated Mahon.“Installing a district-wide solution that’s easy touse, scalable and supports our multiple levels ofsecurity ensures the safety of our students andstaff, which was the number one priority for thisproject.”

It is a full-scale, federated security solution thatincludes video streaming, alarm management, access control via card access systems, emergencypanic lockdown abilities, video synchronisation forall the above, and the ability to control each systemcentrally from one main control unit.

“TCAPS was quite a large-scale design: we hadto understand the intricacies of 26 structures thatwere all unique in their own needs. A vast amountof engineering had to be examined, dealing withthe different wiring, ceiling setups and potentialmonitoring station locations,” says COMMTECHconsultant Bret Emerson. “We wanted a solutionthat allows video surveillance to be integratedseamlessly into all aspects of the district.”

After Emerson’s report on the system’sarchitecture and design, TCAPS contracted withWindemuller Electric to provide the customisedsolution, including access control, lockdown andalarm systems. NETech, subcontracted throughWindemuller, installed the Milestone solution, ensuring the VMS core of the implementation wastuned for the district. The XProtect software wasimplemented quickly and efficiently in the schoolsettings, minimising interruption or confusionwith the administrators who monitor thehundreds of cameras.

A total of 685 cameras were set up in TCAPS,397 in Phase II by NETech. Panasonic’s IP WV-Sw355, WV-SW395 and WV-SF366 cameras were

installed throughout the entire district, in additionto two Arecont AV8185 IP cameras. XProtect’s openplatform abilities allow end users to have afreedom of choice in hardware devices. More than1,500 models of network cameras and encodersfrom over 100 different manufacturers aresupported by Milestone.

Throughout the school district, 19 monitoringstations were established, each with an HP videoworkstation synchronised with Milestone XProtectCorporate. Four HP ProLiant video servers and anHP StorageWorks MDS600 with 70TB of spaceround off the system’s storage capabilities. Thiscapacity is important for so much video data:Milestone XProtect Corporate supports anunlimited number of cameras, users and sites, making it a match for TCAPS, who have plans foradditional cameras.

“Keeping in mind our plans to expand thesystem, the server and software are a veryimportant aspect. As of now, our server has thecapacity to tack on additional cameras. UsingXProtect helps us maintain the work andeducational environment when we decide toupgrade. It’s simple, fast and effective,” statesMahon.

Since the security upgrade, there have beeninstances where school property was reportedmissing, and those trained to use the systemmonitored, reviewed and recorded the event. Thedigital evidence was quickly and easily exportedfrom the Milestone system and provided to thelocal police department with a built-in viewer.

“At times, we have dealt with vandalism, instances of theft or other security issues regardingpublicly owned property outside the schoolenvironment. We can easily show the footage to theaccused and police to quickly turn around thesituation. We are extremely confident in our systemand trust that we are keeping the school and all ofthose in attendance safe,” concludes Mahon. www.milestonesys.com

We are committed to providing high quality,cost-effective products which meet today’sneeds and regulations. We are constantly

enhancing our product offering, so that ourproducts are ready to respond to tomorrow’schallenges, be it in residential, commercial orindustrial applications.

Dycon has one aim: to present installers andsystem integrators alike with the highest levels ofcustomer service and satisfaction. We understandour customers’ needs are changing at an everincreasingly rapid rate – our expertise as productmanufacturers and designers along with our vastknowledge of the security industry ensure ourability to provide customer excellence.

We are proud of the fact that all our productsare UK made at our own ISO9001 site in SouthWales where we can personally control the qualityand reliability of all Dycon products.

Our extensive product range reflects our wealthof experience in the design and manufacture ofsecurity equipment and the Dycon name is yourassurance of reliability and quality at all times.

We are the market leader in designing andmanufacturing a full range of inventive, energy-efficient, “green” switched mode power supplyunits for applications across a large number ofdiffering sectors including security, access controland CCTV. Dycon pioneered the security industryuse of switched-mode technology back in 2004 andhave never produced the inefficient linear versionsthat many manufacturers still offer. Switched-modeoperation offers more reliable and longer lastingperformance with the added advantage that itsubstantially reduces the amount of electricityused compared to linear versions and virtually noheat is produced so that cooling fans are no longerrequired. Typically, a Dycon 1A switched-mode PSUwill save at least 250kWh of electricity per annumcompared to a conventional linear version and, with energy prices continuing to escalate, businesses can save substantial amounts of moneyby changing technologies.

Dycon offers genuine power solutions ratherthan simply a number of power products, all havebeen developed to cope with specific issuesrelated to that particular industry sector andimprove the performance of those systems.

For instance the Dycon CCTV range all operateat 66KHz, which eliminates the image interferenceoften, found when conventional PSUs are used. Tomake video installation simpler all Dycon CCTVpower solutions can be supplied with a variety ofdifferent splitters to make connection and cablingquick and simple.

Similarly, the Access Control PSUs all include, asstandard, special circuitry, which ensures that

‘spikes’ caused by electric door strikes and releasesdo not interfere with the system operation.

The advanced PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) rangeprovides a simple way of powering a wide range ofnetwork peripherals, removing the need to provide230v AC power next to these peripherals, andtherefore making installation simpler and moreeconomical. Available in 4, 8, 12 and 16-channelversions each offering 35W per channel output, they are supplied in an attractive 2U metal housingand designed to fit to a standard 19” rack mounted. As the switched-mode technology eliminates theneed no cooling fans these units can be fitted intoquiet environments such as control rooms ordomestic premises. The Dycon PoE range wasawarded a ‘Best Buy’ rating by BenchmarkMagazine in comparative testing.

Where higher-power conventional PSUs arerequired Dycon offers 10A or 20A units with 10 or20 individually fused outputs housed in a 2U metalcabinet that can be desk or 19” rack mounted andmatches the PoE versions.

As one of Europe’s leading developers of securealarm communication products, we also offer arange of simple digital communicators suitable forsending security/fire alarm or plant-monitoringinformation to a remote receiver or control room. All have been tested against the latest NGN (NextGeneration Networks) specification and operatereliably when used on these network. These unitsare ideal for replacing existing digicomms thatcannot now reliably operate on the new networks, and, in many instances, the existing NVM chip canbe used, speeding up installation.

Where installers have to use 3G and 4Gequipment, knowing which cells are available andat what strength can reduce the headaches oftenassociated with such installations. Dycon offers theindustry-leading solution, the D2376 test meter. This simple, rugged unit can scan the locality anddisplay all cells available together with theiridentity and signal strength, installers can thenchoose the best one for their purpose. A 4G versionwill be launched shortly to cater for the newnetworks.

Camera range features1080P optionAxis Communications haslaunched a number of newcameras; Q6042/-E/-C withExtended D1 resolution and 36xoptical zoom, Q6044/-E/-C withHDTV 720p and 30x opticalzoom, and the Q6045/-E/-C withHDTV 1080p and 20x opticalzoom.

The Q6044/-E/-C PTZ domeshave 30x optical zoom, comparedwith 18x in previous HDTV 720pmodels. In addition, their lightsensitivity is reportedly nearlythree times better than theindustry norm for HDTV cameras. They also support electronicimage stabilisation, whichreduces the effects of cameravibrations (from wind or traffic)

to provide clearer, more useful video. In addition, they support automatic defog, whichautomatically detects fog in the scene anddigitally filters it out of view for clearer video.

The Q6045/-E/-C PTZ domes also have betterlight sensitivity than its Axis Q6035/-E/-Cpredecessors. Furthermore, they have additionalbuilt-in video analytics such as highlightcompensation (which masks bright lights for easeof viewing), object removed, fence detector, object counter and enter/exit detection.

The new AXIS Q60 cameras are equipped witha CPU (central processing unit) and co-processorwhich enable better image quality, with lowernoise, higher light sensitivity for sharper imagesand more efficient video compression with H.264Main Profile. They also provide improved supportfor simultaneous streaming of multiple, individually optimised video streams, providingvideo management systems with increasedflexibility and manageable network and storageuse. In addition, there is more processing powerand capacity for intelligent video applications, which are helpful in alerting and enablingoperators to act on potential and actual alarmsituations. www.axis.com

Narrower depth mounting system announcedCustom Consoles is introducing a new model of itsMedia Wall, the multiscreen mounting systemused by broadcasters, in security centres and inindustrial process control suites. Available fromQ1 2014, the new version features a series ofimprovements including narrower front-to-backdepth, reduced from 600 to 500 millimetres.

“A floorspace saving of 100 millimetres maysound trivial but will be greatly appreciated bymany studio system designers,” comments GaryFuller, Sales Manager at Custom Consoles. “Likeits predecessor, the new version of Media Wall isfully self-supporting and retains the option ofadding coupling brackets directly to the studiowall. Freely adjustable horizontal and verticalscreen spacing replaces the former discrete-mount mounting holes. This allows individualdisplay screens to be positioned so that theiredges meet exactly to form a continuoushorizontal monitorscape limited only by theboundary of the display itself.”

Cable management within Media Wall is nowalong ducts with finger-trunking slots. Thiscombination ensures that all wiring is fullyconcealed and can enter or leave the structure atany desired point. Integral mains distributionunits will be available as an option. Media Wallincorporates height-adjustable horizontal beamssuspended between 2.3 metre high aluminiumcolumns. Equipment pods with 19 inch rackingbehind removable vented panels can beincorporated at floor-level.

Media Wall is available in a silver-anodised orblack-powder coated finish and in bespokewidths.www.customconsoles.co.uk

Differentiatedaccess managementThe most recent updateto the SiPassintegrated accesscontrol system fromSecurity Products fromSiemens, version 2.65,allows users toconfigure multipleaccess authorisations

for card holders and work groups as well as forreservation objects. Users can assign an unlimitednumber of access authorisations to each cardholder, either permanently or temporarily usingfixed start- and end-times. The authorisations canbe combined as needed. If users modify theaccess rights of a work group, the changes applyto all card holders in the group.

SiPass integrated 2.65 supports currentoperating systems such as Windows 8, WindowsServer 2012 and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 andoffers interactive reporting functions.

Reservation objects such as conference rooms, seminar rooms at universities or tennis courts atsports facilities, can be defined as a collection ofaccess components. Making a reservation is easy:users access a calendar-like interface via the webto quickly view the availability of the components, for example all conference rooms at a site, andthen book or edit them.

The user interface for card management iscustomisable. To increase efficiency and ease ofuse, the display can be streamlined so that onlyregularly used functions are shown. If needed, card management and reservations can behandled through a third-party system, for instancean HR system, connected to SiPass integrated viaapplication programming interfaces (API). Externalhardware, such as digital video recorders, can becontrolled via a DVR API. Robust security featuresprotect access via the web client.www.art-of-security.com

Encoder allows IP migration withanalogue technologySiqura has announced the release of EVE, a newrange of plug and play video encoders thatdigitize analogue video signals and send themdirectly over any IP network. EVE also supports960H-enhanced video streams. Analoguesurveillance systems are closed circuits that tieyou to the location where they are used, IPtechnology, on the other hand, paves the way tofull connectivity: it allows users to transfer videoto any destination. That means live footage can beviewed in the central control room, while aduplicate stream is sent to a remote recorder or tothe mobile device of an operator.

EVE encoders complement this functionalitywith a number of features that are normally onlyfound in high-end devices, such as 960Hresolution, image quality enhancement (motion-adaptive deinterlacing, 3D noise filter, fogcorrection) and proven interoperability with third-party systems.

Record up to 8 channels of HD IP videoThe VideoNetBox II fromDallmeier is a compactappliance for the recording ofup to 8 IP video channels. Witha new, higher performanceprocessor, all eight channelscan now be recorded in real-time in HD quality (720p). Theperfectly synchronised

components also enable fast memory speed. The SMAVIA Recording Server software for

recording audio and video streams is alreadyinstalled. The corresponding software SMAVIAViewing Client allows for the independent andconvenient evaluation of the recordings overEthernet (LAN/WAN). It can be run on deviceswith a Windows XP / 7 operating system and is

included in the VNB II’s scope of delivery. The pre-installed software SMAVIA Recording

Server is designed as an open platform. Togetherwith the according licenses, third-party IPcameras with motion detection can be recordedand configured over the ONVIF protocol. If theinstallation is to include analogue cameras aswell as IP cameras in mixed operation, theVideoNetBox II can be expanded with theoptional “Analogue Upgrade Kit” for operating asmany as eight analogue channels in hybrid mode.

Owing to its compact design the VideoNetBoxII can be mounted on walls, ceilings, or as a baseinstallation on tables or cupboards. And not onlydoes the VNB II require very little space, it is alsovery easy to install: find a place and screw it in.Fitting or replacing hard disks has also beenoptimised in version II, and after opening the rearpanel it takes just a few simple steps.www.dallmeier.com

Large format, ultra short throw projectionUntil now, businesses that have exploited theadvantages of projection and displaytechnology have only been able to imaginelarge and bright, display screens in a very closeproximity to the projector. The arrival of suchtechnology would have implications not onlyfor creating a big visual impact and an almostillusionary experience for viewers, but game-changing advantages of making projectionpossible in spaces that would have previouslybeen dimensionally constrained and throughthe cost saving implication of a big reducedspace requirement. The introduction of ET-DLE030 lens by Panasonic delimits what wasbefore unachievable through a throw ratio of0.38:1 - resulting in space saving by 60%.

In terms of new projection applications, itmeans avoidance of having to throw lightacross, for example, a busy retail environmentwhere objects or people can block projectedimages and where space is at a premium. Thisapplies to further verticals such as staging, museum, or transport where it may not bepossible to suspend a projector mountingbracket or where there is insufficient space, either in front or behind the projector to throwthe image to the required size.panasonic.net

With IP CCTV forecasted to show continuedgrowth, until at least 2017, it seems thatthe security industry’s focus will shift to

fully integrated IP security systems, incorporatingCCTV, access control, intruder detection and otherintelligent building systems.

The increasing number of ‘global’ smart citiesand the adoption of intelligent buildingtechnologies are indeed transforming traditionalcommunication networks and enabling them to beutilised for much more than just data and voice, with the inclusion of security and building controlsystems. As technology evolves, intelligentbuilding solutions have proven to ease thefacilities burden and pave the way for IT andestates to bridge the gap between departments.

Perhaps then it is no surprise then that Frostand Sullivan recently published a report detailingthe increase in awareness and expected, considerable, growth of the biometrics market aswell as recent news announcements emergingthat key industry manufacturers are set todiversify their portfolios, to provide smartersurveillance and access control technologies.

The last twelve months have seen key trendsappear within the security industry which havepaved the way for the development and further

integration of the latestinnovations and technologies, set to shape the futuremarket place such as:

Falling cost of IPtechnology – IP securitytechnology has seendramatic reductions in priceover the past few years dueto the increasing levels ofcompetition betweenmanufacturers and theseemingly boundlessprogression of technologies.

The relationship betweenaccess and surveillance -Integration betweenpreviously proprietarysystems is becoming moreand more common and isnow more often ‘expected tohappen’ rather than asked ‘iffeasible’.

Physical SecurityInformation Management(PSIM) – The integration ofmultiple securityapplications, into a singlemanagement system, provides complete visibility

of all systems. Benefits include significant costsavings, ease of installation and operation, enhanced usability and future proofing.

Business intelligence – The adoption of IPtechnologies, sophisticated Video ManagementSystems (VMS) and PSIM software has grantedsecurity and estates managers a wealth of businessintelligence that can be used not only for securitybut also payroll, student attendance records, healthand safety requirements and to provide valuableinsight to support marketing and sales.

Video analytics – The capacity to evaluatevideo footage at a granular level, allows operatorsto determine specific information about thecontent of their video. Intelligent analytics canprovide early alerts to incidents needing attentionand can relieve security staff from having to watchmonitors for hours on end.

Remote services – The capacity to enable anddisable user’s access to specific areas of buildingsor entire campuses remotely has grantedorganisations significantly higher levels ofsecurity. Remote services can allow controllers tosimply isolate an intruder or restrict access to anentire building.

Mobile access – The unprecedented, globalgrowth of mobile devices and applications hasbeen fully utilised by the security market to offerusers mobile access to analytics and criticalfootage, thus enabling preventative and reactivemeasures to be actionable in real time.

Why IP CCTV?Across varying sectors the shift from analogue toIP CCTV is continuing to accelerate. The benefitsare being driven by both advances in technologyand integration capabilities and they show no signof slowing. With IP CCTV, long gone are the daysof massive investment with depreciating assets.

Omnipresent and intelligent surveillance actsas a deterrent to anti-social behaviour and theftand enables swift response to any incidents withhigh quality footage. However CCTV is now usedfor much more than security, for example providinganalytics to help the retail market identifyopportunities and reinforce marketing campaigns.

IP security products can be graduallyintroduced and added to existing systems tocreate hybrid solutions. With the use of encoders,an evolutionary approach to IP migration negatesthe high up-front costs associated with analoguesystems. Moreover there is no mass ‘rip out andreplace’ required which is often not a financiallyviable option.

Megapixel and HDTV network cameras providehigh quality detailed footage and can employprogressive scan for superior image quality, even

INTELLIGENT BUILDINGS

in scenes with a high degree of motion. Inaddition HDTV video can be streamed reliablyover IP and wireless networks. Moreover, in a fullyIP surveillance system, images from a networkcamera are digitised once and they stay digitalwith no unnecessary conversions and no imagedegradation.

ANPRANPR differs significantly from CCTV. Data is veryeasy to capture and quick to search and canrapidly identify locations of potential interest. Animportant difference includes the ability for ANPRto be used so that offenders can be immobilisedin real-time.

ANPR systems provide automatic barrieropenings for authorised vehicles, whilst loggingentry and exit times. Non-authorised vehiclescannot gain access until permission is manuallygranted to proceed.

Number plate data, along with other data suchas location, time and read confidence can beseamlessly logged, encrypted and sent via a fixedor wireless network. Additionally, ANPR systemscan be seamlessly integrated in to your mainCCTV control room and PSIM platform.

IP access controlWith the latest access control productscombining IP readers and controllers, intercomfunctionality and remote applications, an entirelymultifaceted access control experience is comingto the fore.

With the utilisation of new technologies andthe increasing capabilities for multiple systemintegrations, common Access Controlcomplexities can be reduced whilst streamliningbusiness processes, providing real time criticaldata and, most importantly, increasing levels ofsecurity.

Wireless and IP ID card functionality canenhance security and pride a highly controlledenvironment. Not only can areas be highly secureand, if desired, entirely inaccessible, an IPsolution can provide seamless access to corefacilities in a highly controlled and managed way.

Entire and multiple buildings can becontrolled from a central location, providingunrivalled levels of access control flexibility andgreatly simplified security managementprocesses. An IP solution can be remotelymanaged offering the functionality to access andchange profiles rapidly, adding real value.

Intelligent ID card systems can providedetailed audit trails of users, granting completecontrol and granular levels of visibility, enablingthem to track the movement of students, staffand visitors throughout buildings and campusesand can delete users remotely and securely, ifrequired.

Intelligent BuildingsThe integration of security systems, with the ITnetwork, delivers a wealth of benefits and theutilisation of IP and wireless technologies drivescalability and cost effectiveness whilst deliveringincreased levels of resiliency and proving simplerto maintain.

Delivering estates and security managers allthe critical information they require to monitor, maintain and protect their assets, employees anddata is, in effect, intrinsically weaved in to the roleof the IT department, which is being more andmore widely recognised and embraced.

Future trends in intelligent building technologywill be heavily dominated by security, with theintelligent building market predicted to continueto grow this year, in particular we will see:

Early adoption - A greater adoption of theintegration of security into Intelligent Buildings atpoint of construction, allowing for greater costsavings and accelerated interoperability.

Physical Security Information Management(PSIM) - An increase in the demand for PSIM tocreate truly unified and centralised systems.

Edge CCTV storage – to record CCTV footagelocally and reduce the transportation of non-critical information when the network is busy.

Smart IntegrationAs a nation, the UK is perceived as a Big Brothersociety, due to its large volume of CCTV cameras. However with massive amounts of legacyequipment becoming end of life, now is the timeto think smarter and deploy truly intelligent andfit for purpose IP security solutions.

By using intelligent and integrated securitysolutions, the need to have a multiple camerascovering a given area is no longer the best or onlysolution. A far more effective approach is to havea single HD camera that will become active uponspecific movement, or an alert from an IP accesscontrol system.

Moreover the use of ANPR and barrier controltechnology is another example of where yoursecurity estate can work ‘smarter’. With thestrategic placement of entry and exit camerasacross your estate, you can effectively monitorthe entire vehicular activity and reduce therequirement for multiple pan tilt zoom (PTZ)cameras and the hours of footage these wouldgenerate.

Using this level of integration and managingand monitoring entire estates with an intelligentPSIM solution can deliver multiple benefits –company wide. However from a purely securityperspective, streamlined alarm and accesscontrol, pre-defined levels of security, high qualityHD footage, smart storage and simplifiedmaintenance is, some say, just the tip of theiceberg.

Future trends inintelligent buildingtechnology will beheavily dominated bysecurity, with theintelligent buildingmarket predicted tocontinue to grow thisyear
