Develop a set of manipulatives that you can use to show or teach ordering fractions.

Create a cube for a fraction of your choice. Each side should have a different equivalent fraction for the fraction you choose.

Create a set of concentration cards for matching equivalent fractions. You can use pictures, words, or symbols.

Create a how-to video that would teach other students how to put fractions in order from least to greatest.

Teacher Notes

1. Choose three to six independent practice problems for the student to complete. The student will then complete the problem solving section of the day’s lesson. Have an answer key available for the student to self-correct his/her work. If they successfully show mastery of the day’s topic, they can move on to the “side dishes.”

2. Have copies of the Enrichment Master available for the student to complete. Hatchin’ Fractions is a computer game available through Envision.

3. Have students select from the “dessert menu.” Have materials prepared. See attached list.
