PSA RSSO VI celebrates Civil
Registration Month in February In line with the celebration of the 2018 Civil Registration
Month (CRM) with the theme “#napapanahongCRVS”, the
Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services
Office VI (PSA-RSSO VI) carried out information
dissemination activities that include radio PSA RSSO/P2
a quarterly newsletter of PSA RSSO VI

Region 6 posts 94.6% employment rate in 2017 Western Visayas reported an annual labor force
participation rate of 61.6 percent out of 5.4
million population 15 years old and over. This is
equivalent to about 3.3million economically active
population comprising of either employed with
94.6 percent and unemployed persons with 5.4

ABS-CBN station in Iloilo City.

Mass civil weddings were held by the local civil registrars in local
government units for the
benefit of unmarried
couples. This gave couples
the opportunity to be legally
married without financial
charges in registration and
solemnizing authority.

Civil Registration focal persons administered lectures on civil registration to graduating students of the University of San Agustin (USA), Iloilo Doctor’s College (IDC) and Iloilo Science and |Technology University (ISATU). These series of lectures would raise the awareness of the students about civil registry laws and regulations, pertaining to the correction of entries in civil registry
documents.
RD Sollesta and his staff attended and supported civil mass weddings and mobile registration activities initiated by the local government units (LGUs) for their constituents. Also, government agencies and LGUs displayed the Civil Registration Month
streamer to show support for the annual activity.
PSA VI concluded the Civil Registration Month celebration with
a culminating activity at PSA RSSO VI office in Iloilo City last
March 2, 2018. A Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) quiz
for Local Civil Registrars Office (LCRO) personnel and PSA
employees, poster-making contest and an oratorical contest were
held to showcase the knowledge and talents of the PSA Region VI
personnel.

The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Region VI held its 2018 1st Quarter regular meeting for 2018 at NEDA Regional Office in Iloilo City on
March 16, 2018.
RD Fred S. Sollesta presided the meeting. The meeting was attended by 21 out of 28 members from government agencies, academe and private
sector.
PSA RSSO VI Regional Director and RSC VI
vice-chairperson Fred S. Sollesta presided the 1st
Quarter 2018 RSC meeting.
Among the agenda are the presentation of the RSC Accomplishment Report for 2017, the Policy Agenda for 2018, and the Generation of the hard indicators for the 2015-2017 Gross Regional Domestic
Product (GRDP).
PSA RSSO VI joins in the Women’s
Month Celebration
The PSA Regional Statistical
Services Office (RSSO) VI
joined in the observance of the
annual Women’s Month
celebration held every March of
the year.
The office displayed a streamer
at the facade of the PSA
Regional Office in Iloilo City.
The Women’s Month theme for
2018, “We make Change Work
for Women”, emphasizes that
women should be empowered
and enabled to be active agents
in bringing about changes, and
reap from the development
efforts.
In line with the celebration, PSA
RSSO VI held a “Pampering
Day” for the employees.
Beautification activities such as
hair trimming, manicure and
pedicure, and foot spa were
provided for the female
employees.
The observance of Women’s
Month calls for the need to
“foster an environment that
enable women to pursue their
passions and be able to
meaningfully engage in
whatever endeavor they hope to
achieve and to enjoy the fruits of
their labors.

The activity is part of continuing
capability building measures of
the PSA. The workshop aims to
enhance the effectiveness
of PSA VI employees’ commu-
nication skills in delivering rele-
vant and reliable statistics and
efficient civil registration
services through both written
and oral means.
The workshop was participated
in by 10 participants from PSA
Regional Statistical Services
Office VI including Regional
Director Fred S. Sollesta and 4
participants from each of the
six provincial offices. The
invited lecturer/speaker was
professor from University
of the Philippines Diliman,
Prof. Lydia R. Arcellana, Ph.D.
Undersecretary and National
Statistician Lisa Grace S.
Bersales was also on hand to
attend in the activity.

Preliminary Results of the 2017 Annual Estimates of Labor Force Survey (LFS) Western Visayas
The total employed persons was approximately 3.1 million in 2017. Employed persons were
grouped into three broad sectors, namely, Agriculture, Industry and Services sector.
Those in the Services sector comprised the largest proportion (53.1%) of the employed
population in 2017. About 18.5 percent were engaged in the Wholesale and Retail Trade,
Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles.
Workers in the Agriculture sector comprised the second largest group with 32.8 percent while,
workers in the Industry sector made up the smallest group registering 14.1 percent of the total
employed.

Registry System (CRS) outlets
located at PSA Regional Office
VI, Iloilo City and PSA Aklan
provincial Office, Kalibo, Aklan.
CRS Iloilo Serbilis Outlet
primarily caters to need for civil
registry documents of clients
from Iloilo and a number of
municipalities in Antique and
Capiz.
Certificate of Live Birth, Marriage,
Death, Certificate of No Marriage,
Advisory on marriage as well as
Fetal Death printed on security
paper can also be obtained from
selected partners with Batch
Request Entry System (BREQS).
The scheme was designed to
give convenience and flexibility to
the public.
PSA RSSO 6 will hold several activities in the 2nd quarter of 2018
involving other government agencies, local government units,
