Latin Name Prunus besseyi
Description Named for the Nebraska botanist that championed its cultivation and use. Nice gray-greenleaves with good fall color. Needs well drained soil. Find Westen Sandcherry growing westof the Arboretum’s prairie. Our sandcherries were planted by members of the Besseyfamily on the day of Charles Bessey’s induction into the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
